Gas door motor replacement

Has anyone replaced or removed and cleaned the gas door motor? Mine wont stay shut anymore as of yesterday. There's this little white piston that springs in/out to latch onto the door and keep it in place. Mine is stuck in and if I manually pull it out it just does it again. I tried cleaning it and spraying with some WD-40 but it looks to be broken. Is this serviceable through the trunk or the wheel well?

Yes, if you remove the side panel inside the trunk, you can get to it. It is held down by one... two screws, and it has a plug that would need to be disconnected.

This is a $40 part on ebay; not sure it can be serviced... aka fixed.

Looks like its under my warranty but for a $100 deductible its cheaper if I take care of it myself. Thanks for the info.
