P0106 Service Engine Soon Code

Got the SES light...Here is the diagnostic:

P0106 Service Engine Soon Code-kgew9nv.jpg

They told it could be a dirty MAF, since the car still works perfectly. My car is tuned, so I'm thinking that it's possible it might be tuned related.

Any help on what it might be?

Here's some more info on it Aldredo:

And there's a thread here (didn't read all of it though):

I had read about that code showing up on FI applications. Not sure about why it appears for me. I'm hoping it's a dirty sensor.

how is the engine running? you may have a small vacuum leak causing the map sensor throw that code. i would check vacuum hoses and pcv hoses to make sure they are all sealing well on its fittings and not cracked or broken causing unmetered air from entering the manifold.

The only problem is when I restart the car on a warm start, sometimes I have to accelerate it for it to not shut off.

From: Framingham Ma,
you have the M370, Check the vacuum hose that the stock MAP sensor is attached to, There could be a leak there.

MAP sensor, not MAF.

MAP sensors do not get dirty,
Most likely a vacuum leak.

I've been having this same problem for a couple of years now. Same code comes and goes from time to time. Dealer replaced the ECU and still nothing. They cleaned the MAF's and still comes on. I don't know if they checked vacuum hoses or not?

Check for intake leak or hoses and if you have access to a good scan tool that has data monitor check the Alpha reading for Bank-1 percentage

I have to get this checked soon. Haven't bothered to get it fixed, since the car runs great. Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Same exact **** I'm going through. Have been getting that code since before I got tuned & car sometimes stalls out on me too on some warm starts. If it does that Code pops up. Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm tired of this common problem.

I highly doubt it's the gas cap. The code is for the MAP, or Manifold Air Pressure, sensor.

Today I got the P0106 code read out from local shop: Manifold Absolute Pressure/Sensor Range

Do you guys think this would be covered under the powertrain warranty?

I had this same problem. The P0106 code would come and go, but lately it would not go away. The answer is to clean the black, sticky coking buildup that occurs around the throttle plates in both of the throttle bodies. Only four bolts. With a scan tool, take notice of the TPS A/B percentages. They should be around 1% at idle if all is clean. Mine were at 3.9%. After cleaning the throttle plates these percentages dropped back to 1%. The car also idles very smoothly again, and much less touchy on the throttle.

The dirty throttle body actually is related to the baro sensor fault because the ECU expects a particular value from the baro sensor at idle and incorrectly blames the baro sensor since the TPS is open wider than desired to maintain the minimum idles speed.

My car started acting up around 75k miles, and just got worse at setting this code, taking longer and longer to clear on its own. It finally got to the point where the P0106 code would no longer clear on its own, and would set within about two hours. I have been driving it for about a week and the code has NOT returned. I also had an issue where it would occasionally stall on a cold start. I am thinking that this will no longer happen either.

I would appreciate replies if this works for others as well.
