Anyone Know What This Is??

Does anyone know what this is? While driving home tonight, I heard a loud pop and pulled over right away to see what it was. I just installed my Takeda CAI and was afraid maybe something went wrong, a lose coupling, or maybe even the intake collapsed but everything looked fine. At that point I figured maybe I ran over something and so I hopped back in the car and kept driving when my wife, who was driving in back of me, called and said she saw something fall from the bottom left of my car. When I went out to inspect, I found this:

If you look closely on the backside, there are some numbers on there: 530-057996 ans M-1951

I tried doing a search online but to no avail. I'm at a loss as to what caused that pop and am pretty sure that this piece of plastic was what caused it but I'm unsure if it came from my car or something on the road that I accidentally ran over.

At any rate, if anyone could identify the item I would greatly appreciate it. Just need to know if it's from my car and need to to be replace or is it just something I ran over.

Please let me know if you have any ideas...thanks in advance.

I don't recognize that, but maybe something (like a ruler) to show scale would help. I know that must be small, but it that close up photo makes it look the size of a manhole cover.

Is is possible that it's not something off of your car, but rather you heard the noise when you ran over something that hit the underside of your car?

Keep an eye out for any fluids under the car after it's been parked. If you have access, get underneath and give it a thorough visual inspection.

Thanks for the reply BB. I just went and took a look and no fluids underneath the car. Everything looks good so far and she started up and revved just fine.

I measured the black cap and it is about 5 inches in diameter.

If that is 5" then it isn't anything off of your car.

That and the fact that the scrapes make it seem like it had seen some road time before it got into your car. I think your tire shot it up into the body panel and it just fell out which would explain the loud pop.
