Replace 100% of ATF . . .

for $285 at the dealer a fair price? Supposed to be an Infiniti approved machine that does not flush the system, just R&R all 12 quarts of fluid. At 30K and going to do the rear end again too, did it the first time at 1K. Ref lower engine cover and too old/fat to be climbing under cars.

Not sure how pricey nissan atf is, but we just had our gm (early 2000's grand prix) done at the dealer for $150+tax.

It's not a drain and fill either, they hook up some sort of machine that either flushes or evac's and refills the fluid.

5AT or 7AT?

7AT is completely sealed and has a special procedure to get the fluid out. I thought I read it was a ~$600 bill, so if you are getting $285 for a 7AT it might not be a bad deal.

I dont have a 5AT so I dont know how it works.

Dyi

Think there was a dyi on this. You need a transmission fluid pump which can also be used to remove your power steering fluid. (apparently it helps out alot) and if i rememeber right the 30k service includes new brake fluid and transmission flush for under $400. Might have my price off alittle.

What dealer? Also, what was the procedure?

So what interval does the owner's manual specify for changing the 7AT fluid in the G37?

....and that is what worries me or ..should I have more confidence because of it.

I'm changing my ATF for its first change at 110k miles with a very good Infinity deal service shop. They seem to have every confidence it will be fine but I'm worried to do it. If I don't do it it will surely fail anyway and I'm not sure it is wise to run it down. I will have to face the Rebuild possibility I suppose but then people get away with these late flushes to.

Live and learn but at least I paid a fair price.

Stress much? Probably too long to do it but
"c'est la vie", not much your going to do about it now. Better late than never.

Hard to blame the previous owner though. He did bring it in for inspections and regular maintenance. I just wonder if it is a guaranteed fail when I change it. Isnt the machine they use low pressure? I'm referring to all Nissan techs
