5AT wont go into DS Mode

When i put the car into drive and shift it into DS mode, it stays in drive. I tried it from Park straight to ds, while driving, holding it up and down while driving and it still stays in drive. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Happened to me before, there's an issue with your shifter, take it to the dealership and they'll replace it for you

Do you have the parts number from your work order?

sorry that was like 2 years ago,I have no clue where the work order is... If your car is still under warranty just take it in and they will take care of it.

I've taken it to the dealership numerous times. They see the problem recognize it but when the techs look at it, they can't find nothing wrong. They think it's intermittent. Yesterday I was driving n didn't work at all. Today I drive it didn't work then like later when I try it again, it works.

Been having this issue for the past couple years and it's an intermittent issue for me. In the summer time (40+C) it will occur on an almost daily basis, once the weather cools down it rarely happens. I use DS/M modes 90% of the time but never bothered to get it fixed since it will probably happen again with the new shifter switch anyway.

Car is a 08 G35 sedan 5AT.

intermittent means periodic which is exactly what it was for me.
and why would you say your car is a lemon?

yea i know. well everytime problem occurs and infiniti recognizes it, they cant find a problem and sometimes it comes back on. I believe if the car comes with a feature it should work all the time not when ever it wants to.

I had this BS replaced twice. They need to replace the entire shifter assembly, take it to the dealer!

I have this issue too, and i think exterior temps has a lot to do with it. In my situation, i have never got locked out of DS/M mode from the start, it will always work just fine, but after a hard pull or sometimes other things, the car goes back to D mode automatically, and the shifter is still in the DS position. So far i have found restarting the car will get rid of the issue, but it will happen again, so most of the time i just drive in D and pedal shift the car when needed.
