bubbles in oil
bubbles in oil
so today i wanted to check my oil and as i took the dipstick out to look the oil had bubbles on it. is this normal? something i should be worried about? i even put it back in and out 4 or 5 times and each and everytime it had bubbles iv never seen this in any of my car before.
that's actually a very good question, because i have the same issue. i've always been informed that bubbles in your oil = a bad thing. but my car doesn't seem to have any adverse effects from it. dyno doesn't show anything (i suppose it wouldn't anyways) in terms of power loss, and the car seems to be running strong...? hm...

This is pretty much normal if you're checking the oil shortly after shutting the engine off. It is best to check the oil with a cold engine (let the engine cool down for at least 10 minutes, an hour gives you the best readings) so you can get the most accurate reading. If the oil looks milky then it's time to worry. But some bubbles is normal.

Yeah if it's full on frothing then that's because it overfilled. Best time to check your oil is after te car sits overnight. Milky oil is water mixing with oil which usually means a blown head gasket. It literally look like chocolate milk.
1NEETO is right you have too much oil. The second dot is the MAX point, not to be mistaken with FULL. If you go over this dot the oil could be in contact with the crankshaft and is essentially getting beaten like scrambling and egg - hence the bubbles or froth you are seeing. This is NOT GOOD!! Remove some oil immediately as the oil is not lubricating the engine components in this state.
