changed my oil today, for the first time in my life.
it was amazingly easy... and there weren't that many screws to remove. ~10 and the filter&plug are right there!

materials:
penzoil ultra used about 5 1/4 from the 6 quarts i bought ($30) + wix filter ($9) + funnels&pan ($4) + crush washer ($1.75) not so bad.

i did have 1 question though... this was also my first time jacking up my car. ive had the impression that we always jack, with a floor jack, from the point under the engine. my friend tells me that everyone does it from the side skirt area, 1 side at a time. upon closer inspection at the "notches"... it seemed really flimsy and he thought it mightve bent if we used the floor jack on it so we rolled the jack all the way under the engine point. my question is if we need some or of jack adaptor or somehting.
also, we jacked a good couple inches passed the front engine-area jack point (missed it... went too deep). i was wondering if we coudlve damaged it. the car lifted ut it seemed fine.

A pinch weld jack adapter is what you need. Otherwise you will bend the pinch weld. There's a nipple on the crossmember where the jacking point is. If your jack was still underneath the crossmember you were fine.

A tip: Only remove the 4 bolts farthest toward the back of the vehicle on the under shroud. There's a crease in it that runs across its width, you can simply bend down the rear part and access the oil pan plug and filter, you needn't remove the entire under shroud.
