MT or AT in my case ? (want your opinions)

Hello everyone...
I'm new in the forum and this my first post...

Actually, I'm intending to buy a G37S but I'm extremely confused to choose between MANUAL and AUTOMATIC transmission and I want your opinions. I will give you some facts to have a good look at my situation. I'm from BAHRAIN a very small country (750 km2) where the traffic usually (if not all the time) like hell, you can't imagine how bad is it down here (a less than 10 minutes ride takes more than 30 minutes). Another aspect is worth mentioning is that I've just got my license in 13th sep and to get your license here you have to pass a 22 hours of training in a manual transmission training car and then you have to pass the driving test. I didn't drive any manual car since I've passed the test (about month and a half) because it's hardly to find a MT car, except for trucks, vans... etc as almost all the population prefer to have a AT. Young drivers are the only ones who are interested in MT (like my self ). I'm just into the MT for the fun and satisfaction it provides and not for anything else (fuel economy... etc). So based on that what is your advise ? Should I go for the MT or the AT ? and yeah one more thing does the shifting paddles in the G37S AT gives you the same feeling as the fully manual ? and will the car SOUND the same in AT and MT (exhaust) ?

Couple of other questions, is there a G37S 2010 model coming ? and what do you thing the best color to choose (I think black what do you think) ?

thanks...

hmm. if you like a manual car then thats what you should get.

Logically, since you say theres traffic and stuff then automatic would be the right choice... but hey, since when do we think logically. if that was the case i would buy a used automatic honda civic. Saves money, gas, depreciates less, and worry free when it comes to dings, etc.

Basically what im trying to say is: this is a car your buying as like a toy. get what you like.

Yeah there will be a 2010 model, no changes though, yet. and black is indeed the best color.

Agree with everything, except white is the best color.

G37 only comes in Automatic in the Middle East, unless you have it shipped from the US

Most will agree, paddle shifters just don't give the same satisfaction/ fun factor as a true manual. It's personal preference really.

Thanks a lot.
I think I'm convinced right now, I will go for what I like and what my mind telling me.
But if what (( G37Sam )) says is true (I didn't know about that), then i have no choices left I have to go for the automatic.
Thanks again for the help.

Yup it is true my friend. I live in Dubai and trust me, I've searched and asked every single dealer then asked Nissan ME's head office in person (whose office is in Jebal Ali, Dubai too)

Gulf Spec G37s only come in AT, it won't hurt to ask your local dealer though coz I haven't checked in Bahrain haha

eh, i thought manuals were standard in other parts of the world? cant you just take the test with an auto and pass that to get your license then buy a 6mt when you do get your license? that is if you can get an 6mt, eh.

Unfortunately, what you said is absolutely true it only comes in AT I checked the dealer today but anyway it's a great car it won't hurt to take it in AT.

I think if you really liked driving a manual, you wouldn't give the AT much thought and would just pick the MT in the first place. Doesn't seem like your heart in it to have the 6MT.

who on earth misshifts? you must of really suck badly if you do because isnt there a gate that blocks or whatever going a certain mph that prevents one from going into a particular gear? say you are going 80 and in 3rd, you cant shift into 2nd...
