d.i. y. maintenance?
Welcome. Many here will do a lot if not all of their own maintenance for lots of different reasons. I know the job is done right if I do it myself, it saves me tons of money, and I truly enjoy working on my car.
I'm still a newbie when it comes to auto work, but I love doing my own maintenance thus far. Oil changes are insanely easy. I'll let the dealer do the bigger jobs (like the 30k mile service), but other than that I really like working on my car.
thats good to know that some of you guys do it yourself but some of the thread that i see when it hits a certain mileage on their car they bring it in and get it done afterward there is something that is not right or they leave with a surprise on their car like scratches and ect. but if you know what your doing and your doing it yourself there will be no problems at the end though right its just better yourself?

There is absolutely no reason to go to a dealership for virtually anything from a maintenance standpoint.
(Of course, my closest dealership is 300 miles away, but it wouldn't matter, anyway)
30K/60K/90K/120K maintenance can be done for less than a 100 bucks, easily.
(Not including in cabin filter----I never noticed a difference in air quality when I changed it on my FX twice. I decided it wasn't going to be replaced again after the 60K one and didn't)
I bring my own AMZOIL and filter and am right with my car when whatever work is done
My tires are rotated when I change tires for summer and winter driving every yr.
Most of the maintenance is just inspection, anyway.
Dealerships charge an arm and a leg for doing virtually nothing for the prices they demand.

Just some quick thought on the subject...
I like having an expert work on my car because I don't do enough to stay current
and quickly get the job done....except for my own oil changes. Especially on
our Infiniti's....they just plug them-in and get more information on their computers
than I could extract and analyize in a week.
Consider whether a "job" on your car will cost you more or less than you can make
in the same amount of time......now that I'm a little older I can make more money
in the time my car is being worked on than the work cost me to have done...so
it makes sense to pay an expert.
I personally like to "stay known" at my local dealerships since I buy a new car
every two or three years and it's always "paid" for the folks at the dealership
to know me by name.
You can probably get very good work done by a small local mechanic who will
charge less than the dealers, and it's always good to have that "go to guy"
you can count on when you need him. To me it's worth paying a litte for
regular visiits if I trust the guy and want to have a good relationship with
for those times that I really need them.
.....Just some thoughts to ponder. Good Luck
