2009 g37xs Sedan general maintenance question

ok i know theres posts about this all over the place but some are out dated and i would appreciate a direct answer. It seems there are many opinions and no right answer.

What kind of oil do i use??? i hear use conventional oil, Mobil one full synthetic, and also nissan ester oil and or Motul 300v. also any reccomendations on an oil filter?? thank you very much in advance.

Also does anyoneexperience under wot a squeal between gears??? i test drove 2 besides my own and they both did it0 i have not a clue what it is

what squeal do you mean? I would stay w/ the nissan ester oil and the nissan oil filters so you won't void any warranties.

You don't need anything to be Nissan to keep your warranty. Just change it at least every 7500 miles.

Sadly, there is no right answer to your question. It is all opinion, which is why there are so many threads about it.

The ester oil is for a specific problem generally and is very expensive.

You have to determine how you drive and how often you want to change your oil. The harder you drive the car, the better the quality of oil you want to use.

I personnally use Mobil 1. I use it because it is the synthetic oil that the Nissan dealer used where I had my oil changed. I plan to have it changed every 7500 miles, and will have it analyzed after my next oil change to make sure that it is doing well at that interval.

Kenny, open all the windows and floor it from a stand still. Let it shift under wot. It squeals between gears and ray catena says no big deal all the cars do it.

I don't think anyone has EVER proven that Ester oil is the factory fill. I highly doubt that. I mean, of course use whichever oil you like, but the Ester oil was designed for a specific problem with the VVEL. You can use Pennzoil yellow bottle (which is in my car right now) and be just fine. Pennzoil is a reputable brand from a solid company. Again, use what you want, but be ready for pay extra $$$ for the Ester Oil. You could always run Motul 8100 for $45 for a 5qt jug and get plenty of ester technology in that oil compared to the $12-15/qt Nissan Ester oil.

Again, use what you like.....just know there are plenty of other (read: better) choices out there for the cost. Just my $.02.
