Water leak (not sunroof)

Have been dealing with a water leak getting in through the passenger footwell. When I run car through the car wash or something I see it dripping from behind the glovebox. I’ve already re routed the sunroof drains and made them exit through the ac drain location. I’ve heard some things about a common cowl leak. Could this be it? Is there something else it could be? And if so, how can I fix it? My car smells horrible and I don’t want my back to get damaged

Remove the glovebox and check the cabin air filter (probably a good opportunity to change same if needed). If it is wet then the windshield cowl seals have failed and water is leaking in through the air inlet duct. This thread details my experience with this leak and my solution to same. Others have used silicone, backer rod, and other tricks to try and seal that cowl- they never worked for me. YMMV

If the cabin air filter is completely dry, then you would have to look at the main wiring loom (harness) that passes through the firewall.
