Nismo magnetic oil plug

Hi everyone, I see that it comes with washers and orings for sealing. What happens when you run out? Where do you get replacement washers and orings?

The thread diameter isn't any different. It's just a drain plug with a magnet in the oil. At best its a curiosity.

This is a new design from Nissan, referred to as "Type 2." The original NISMO plug (Type 1?)- the one I have- came with a "permanent" washer.

That said, from thezstore.com:
Type Note:
This magnetic drain plug features the same "Type 2" logo (as we refer to it) as the previous "Type 1" version of the drain plug, which has been discontinued by Nissan (this logo has been used on most NISMO products sold since about 2009). The main differences between the 2 drain plug types is the color and the sealing washer that are used. The previous version came in a medium dark grey, while this new version is all black (which allows the logo to stand out much better). The sealing washer was changed from a single thin all metal washer to a 2-piece design; see more details in the Sealing Washer Note* below.

and

*Sealing Washer Notes:
This 2nd version of the NISMO drain plug includes 3 o-rings and 3 metal washers (the third o-ring/washer set are installed on the plug already). These must be used together when installing the plug into the oil pan. We are waiting for Nissan to confirm whether replacement o-rings are available, as well as whether the metal washers are reusable or not, and will update this page when confirmed. Additionally, Nissan previously confirmed that the Type 1 plug was compatible with the standard copper crush washer could be used in place of the Type 1's reusable sealing washer; however, that has not yet been confirmed with the Type 2 plug.

So, get the Type 1 (original) or wait and see if Nissan makes the rubber pieces available.

Then again, you could always look into getting a Fumoto drain valve like @Rochester has and never futz with plugs again.

Yikes. That's a lot of over-engineered claims for something that should be simple.

In any event, I stand corrected about parts. GL finding a source. You know, the "kit" is only $21. Just buy a few extras and problem solved.

Magnetic drain plug = PTSD caused by seeing small metal shavings that are entirely pars for the course. No thanks.

I already feel OCD with my recurring Blackstone analysis on my collection of 100K+ mile cars, but those fascinate me because of the chemistry involved.

I already have the PTSD for my car. 100% leaking coolant and in summer months I'm overheating. It's coming from the water pump weephole/thermostat area, and it's terrifying me. Luckily my car isn't overheating in winter but I have to top up every two weeks or so. The "heat only while I'm driving" is irritating me. Already got new parts still waiting on nisformance to send the timing kit and then in the summer months (PRAYING it doesn't get bad enough sooner) I'm going to be redoing all my chains and tensioners etc, water pump, thermostat, and valve cover gaskets (small oil leak, I'm coping for now). 😅😅

I guess I have to reach out to Nissan I guess. Where did you find all that information because I could barely find any info on this 😭. I've thought about the futomo drain valve but I think I'd prefer the magnet to have the metal shavings snack as a reward for my oil change. 🤣

I'm really curious on if the copper OEM washer would work with it tbh. 😭
