Posted this on the Q50 forum, but wanted to post this here as well.
People apparently use this filter on the VR38 in the GTR as some deem the standard filter for that is not enough, which users of smaller engines find to be the upgrade.
On another note, make sure you pre-fill this filter.
Yes the filter is giant, and yes this is a filter you would need to fill up with oil first just do to how large inside it is.
I did not buy this filter from Swedish performance shop, got it from a diesel company in NJ. Filter is around $8, you get a whole lot of filter at that price.
I am hoping this will clear everything, being AWD the filter is pitched forward, so hopefully will be enough clearance.
This filter while a larger outter diameter, uses a much larger o-ring cross section so it should not have issue sealing on the mounting surface.

Do you have an oil pressure gauge? I'd be interested to see the difference in oil pressure for running a filter that much larger.
In theory it should be minimal if not null, once under pressure, volume should not matter as much as how much filter media the oil under pressure has to go through.
One way to test this prior to is to determine if at the end of your oil life/change you notice a drop in oil pressure, this would indicate that the clogged media would lower this pressure.
By going larger you maintain a cleaner media for longer unless this media is restrictive (most are standard)
Oil filter media is interesting, I have seen performance oil filters like K&N going to a less restrictive media which should provide higher pressures but less filtering.
Similar to the performance air filter conundrum, higher power = more finer dirt inside of your engine.
I always thought the filter had to have specific flow ratings no? I remember someone tried making the argument the 5.6 filters were too large for the VQ so that's gonna be interesting.
Let us know if you get any pressure measurements. Do you have any information on particle size of filtration? Just cjecked the Mamn cataloh and they jave disconti ued all the filters that they recommend for the g37.

I don't have any measurements, it's a filter meant for diesel engines I believe. People use it on the GTR over the normal sized filter and don't have issues, obviously different engine.
To be exact, it adds approximately 1/3rd of a quart of oil.
No I do not have the exact specs of the filter, best to reach out to Mann for those.

Been having a problem posting here. Mann never replied. I did find out from the internatioal catalog the W 67/1 is the only recommended pil filter for the G37. Out of 3 requests the company never answered even 1
. They are off my list.

Yeah some companies are like that unfortunately, so far been satisfied with this filter, especially for the added capacity.
