Replacing weather stripping on chrome trim below windows

Hi all,

the weather stripping on my 09 g37 sedan doors is deteriorating. I attached a few photos of what I am referring to: weather stripping, part of it feels like foam, that I guess glues onto the decorative trim on the door. Anybody replace this before? Is there an aftermarket option. The dealership sells it as 1 piece with the trim for $200. Which not looking to do that as the trim is fine. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Since our cars are now 10+ years old, I'm surprised that we don't see more reports of failed weatherstripping.

The weatherstripping is integrated with the trim piece using some type of adhesive, correct? Do you have a PN?

I'd check these guys:
https://partsouq.com/en/

@ILM-NC G37S also has a vendor he uses in Japan for OEM parts that may be more cost effective.

I think it just simply depends on the condition of the rubber. If something like Honda Shin Etsu grease is applied it will certainly help the rubber over time.

I think the part number is: 80821-JK00E (Drivers Side) and 80820-JK00E (Passenger Side), front doors.

Amayama or partsouq are both good, though Amayama is usually cheaper.

Don't buy it from the dealer, their prices suck.

Granted Coupe seals are totally different than for the sedan, but when I replaced all of my door seals (there are 3 different seals per door) it was much cheaper to order them Japan directly even when you factor in the cost of international shipping. Plus, they often have parts that are "discontinued" or "NLA" (no longer available) here in the US- especially paint-code specific parts.

Edited 7 Oct 2023 to Add: I just wanted to show a comparison between purchasing OEM parts from Japan vs. from a US dealership:

Note, the H0646 Escutcheon (aka keyhole delete) is NLA in the US so that is not included in the US cart. Even with international shipping the savings are palpable.

Just saying...

That's the company! Amayama.

Even with shipping, Amayama pricing is much better than the dealer or even Z1 as they offer a 30% discount off retail if part is stocked.

So it appears that the weather strip is integrated with the trim. Does it make sense to replace all 4 at the same time since each has aged at the same rate?

How hard is it to remove these trim pieces?
