Device to see all engine stats live

Since I have a 2009 G37xS, I'm lacking Bluetooth. I'm wondering if there is a device I can plug in somewhere to get real time engine stats while driving. Not sure how it would work but a laptop in the port isn't feasible. Lol I realize latency and inaccuracy but something for baseline.

Without tuning package, YET.

Thanks in advance.

You can use a standard OBD2 interface. The Bluetooth connection is made between the device and your phone, so if the car doesn't have Bluetooth it won't matter. On my '12, I used a generic ELM327 adapter that I bought on Amazon for $13, and the NDSIII app. Worked perfectly. For reference, this same device also worked on my 1999 maxima (the Maxima worked with an app called "car scanner" - NDS3 did not work with the Maxima.) And, needless to say, the '99 definitely does not have bluetooth

I've developed a small LCD Mini-dash multi gauge that uses the CAN for the data source and update 30 times per second.
They are "plug and play" and will work on the 07/08 G35, any G37, and 370z. (or just about any Nisan/Infiniti)

Testing has been underway for the last 6 months and is going well:

I agree with Crime (LMFAO).

BT in the car has nothing to do with OBD coommunication.

Nice. Thanks man. At least I know what direction to look. A phone app would be fine, just want some basic data for now. I wish I had Bluetooth so I could just use my tablet(s) but it is what it is bein an 09. Thanks again.

Bluetooth in the car has nothing to do with OBD connection.

Get the dongle and as long as your tablet has Bluetooth and supports the dongle app you can use it.

I understand that. I was referencing the Bluetooth for the aspect of whatever connector goes to the port, I'd like it to have an app
to communicate with the phone. Some of these have it built-in, it seems.

Any recommendations on dongles that I could BT with my Surface Pro?

Well that's what's up! Are you going to release it or what's the plan? This is what I'm looking for with options to change modes for different data.
Nice job man. Will give a follow on your YT.

I also saw that you replied to my Reddit about the GTR logo on the dash in the /r/CarAV. I have the same name over there maybe TheRob941.
Once you get that simplified, I'd be interested in flashing my HU.

I think you might still be confused because you keep referencing the car not having BT. The car doesn't need BT for an app or dongle to connect to connect to the phone/tablet. The dongle goes to the port.

Perhaps I'm not explaining this right. Take the car out of the equation entirely and I'm only talking about the Bluetooth from the phone to whatever connector would plug into the port. So if it's that simple to have a dongle that can connect to the port and I can Bluetooth from that device to my phone or my tablet that is what I'm after.

Yep, that's basically how it works. You plug in the dongle to your OBD2 port, open up the app of your choice (NDS III in my case), hit connect, and then select the dongle. Your phone or tablet will connect to it and you're all set. It's a direct connection between your phone / tablet and the dongle. The one that I purchased from Amazon is this one:

Sweet, thanks for the link. Just out of curiosity, does this show more than just codes? I've seen a lot of apps that just seem to only show fault codes and do and type of live data with the car on. Thanks again.

Seems @motorvatediy has been testing for quite a while. I'm sure he will put a release date up when his system is ready for the public. I need a NAV capable system before I can use his but I'm doing that regardless. Win win.
