Question Fuel Damper replacement

So I just remembered the Fuel damper is bad since I bought the car back in uh 2019 or 2020? G37x 2013 but the sound is so bad it sounds like pinging now I thought for a time it was a exhaust leak or engine ping. ANYWAY before I pay 300 for the dealership I was wondering if I don't have to follow the instructions on how to install before hand and just unplug the piece and unbolt the old 10mm one and put in the new piece call it a day for 100 just like that. basically remove old one and just instantly put in the new one and do nothing else other than maybe unplug the battery

... and when you get 51psi of fuel shot all over the place when you unbolt the damper creating a fire hazard...

The fuel system is constantly under pressure, even when the engine is OFF. This pressure must be released BEFORE touching ANY fuel system components.

Follow the instructions in the factory manual or pay to have it done.

If you can not, do not, or will not follow the instructions then whatever happens is on you.

simply remove the fuel pump fuse located in the IPDM E/R (fusebox by battery), and then just start the engine and run until it stalls. Then crank a few more times to release all fuel pressure. Hardest part is to disconnect the fuel line connected to fuel dumper located down below on the passenger side of the engine bay close to catalytic converter oxygen sensor.. Otherwise is not that bad. Igot mine at Z1motorsports.com and installed myself.

I purchased my fuel damper from Z1 as well. I remember pulling the fuse and waiting a bit, but not purging the fuel system when I replaced mine (maybe I did?). It's best to pull the fuse and purge the fuel system prior like mentioned above, otherwise it's messy. The green plastic covering can be tricky to get back on if your limited on space. I swapped mine out when I replaced my test pipes and it was a simple swap. It was definitely quieter after the swap as well, not as "diesel like".
