y-pipe flex pipes
y-pipe flex pipes
I’m looking into getting a y-pipe after installing a manzo y-back exhaust on my sedan but noticed there are some aftermarket y-pipes without flex pipes. I’ve seen some comments that say running a y-pipe without flex pipes can cause cracking? I just want to know what the better option would be. Get an aftermarket y pipe with or without flex pipes? Also what’s the difference in air flow, power, longevity, etc.?
(The car is a daily driver and won’t be getting high performance mods. ex: HFC, Headers, etc.)

Without flex pipes, you have a chance to crack the headers, which some have done previously. I would advise getting some with flex pipes, and you also will eliminate the chances of having bad fitment. The ones without flex pipes mainly have it for shooting flames, since the flex pipes blow out from excess heat.

No, flex pipes does not prevent flames. You need to get a tune to be able to shoot flames. I would not advise it tbh. It is all fun and games until your gaskets and flex pipes all get blown out.
