New coilover suggestions
New coilover suggestions
I'm looking into new coilovers for my sedan but it seems like most are made for the coupe. I've had the car for 8 years and it's at 190k and I'd like to upgrade.
I know the parts are interchangable but the coupes always seem to be lower than the sedan. Particularly in the rear.
I don't want mine too low. Are there any coilovers for the sedan that keep you within an inch or so of stock ride height? I can deal with a little lower but I don't see much point in slamming a street car. I'm willing to pay for quality ones... Within reason of course lol.

I'll keep it simple and pm me for my cell if you'd rather talk. I love my fortune auto coil overs. I have two fingers gap. 26.5 floor to fender. However, you'll be best to order direct from fortune because you'll need a different rear spring.
My current setup is stock front coil overs (non swift), and the rear is an 8" swift spring instead of the stock 7". Aka no droopy butt at max ride height.
More importantly, I'm running 11k on the front regular springs and 10k on the rears. It rides wonderfully. Tuner who installed them commented how the ride felt oem, just stiffened slightly and lowered conservatively.

ryanwhite74115 I have looked into Fortune Auto but I had the same concerns so thank you for that information. It would make my life easier if other brands gave the option to swap out the springs. I'd like to see pictures if you have any.
Rochester, yes that was me. I will look into your suggestion as well. I will probably look into new mounts though since my car is at 190k miles, and I am in the process of replacing the high wear parts of my suspension. I just did tie rods and wheel bearing/hubs last month.

Tein Street Basis, for $600 give or take. Height adjustable, but you can't change the damping, and you re-use the OEM mounts. They lower the Sedan from 0.6" to 3.8" up front, and 0.8" to 2.5" in the rear. The ride quality is pretty much the same as the OEM sport shocks that came with the RWD Sport Package.

I have a coupe but I assume my experience is applicable. I’ve had KWs and BCs. From my experience and reading forums, I would say these are the two best options. BC for budget and KW if you wanna splurge. Everything else has a good amount of complaints and I liked both of these. KW are a little better but you pay more. I’m on BCs now b/c my KWs rusted out (I lived on the beach, not KWs fault).

It seems to me like the struts themselves are the same across the board. There are aftermarket swift springs that are specifically for the sedan and only lower it a little bit. Since G37s are a divorced spring design in the rear swapping out those springs should be pretty easy.
Swift makes a different spring AWD vs RWD on the sedan. Anecdotally, Swift springs seem to work perfectly for a mild drop on the AWD Sedan. But on the RWD Sedan, not so much.

I'm such an idiot, buying the least moddable version of our cars lol 7AT w/ AWD what was I thinking. Probably what, the slowest, heaviest, hardest to make big power, ****ty tranny, and the least amount of options for simple stuff like coilovers lol
I'm surprised more people haven't taken the options for the Sport and other non-AWD versions and "made them work"
