G37 Sedan Axle back exhaust
G37 Sedan Axle back exhaust
Hello,
I’ve owned my 2011 G37XS for about 8 months now and it’s been an amazing car the entire time. I’ve never been too into modding my cars, but recently I’ve been watching videos on exhausts and now I’m interested in buying a setup. I’m looking for a good axle back exhaust that will accentuate the VQ sounds when I’m getting on it, but also one that won’t drive me nuts with drone while I’m on the highway. I’ve heard great things about the Tanabe axle back, but it’s also pretty expensive. And the “tanabe replicas” like Manzo, Top Speed, Beluga, etc all sound like good budget friendly options, but I’ve heard negative comments about their lack of quality and drone at higher speeds. Any advice?

The Tanabe is a quality axle back with great fitment. It does alter the sound by making it deeper and smoother sounding however this will only be noticeable on the outside. From the inside, the car will sound stock.
Another option is to change your resonator's to resonators off of a coupe or 370z, or even upgrade to Vibrant resonators. This will give you a sound very close to a stock Coupe/370z, however it won't sound as deep and smooth as the Tanabe.

I have the Revel Axle back for my G37X Sedan, it is the same exact product as the Tanabe, just a name change. It is a quality piece of kit, pretty sure it is made in Japan. Does not add any drone or rasp, though it's only an axle back. Adds a bit of a deeper note in my experience. If you get this kit, it does not come with any gaskets or clamps. I put on new clamps and gaskets with bolts, could not hurt as the FSM calls to replace those every time the exhaust is taken apart in that section. Bolts were: 2X (20606-JK00A), clamps: 2X (20675-JK01A), gaskets: 2X (20691-JK01A). Keep in mind these are the part numbers for my VIN. One thing to note is it does not reuse the factory dynamic damper system (20785-JK09A) that the stock mufflers have, not sure what affect this has, but something to keep in mind. I had this kit put on around 9 months ago and have zero complaints, sounds good and no annoying noises on the highway.
