akebono caliper thread damaged

I was doing the akebono upgrade using stock brake lines. So i got the z1 short banjo bolts. The driver side went fine, but the passenger side started leaking. So i pulled them off and noticed the very first thread of the akebono banjo bolt hole was stripped. Only the very first one. So the short banjo bolt can't completely torque to spec.

Now, I'm not sure if this was my fault or rockauto sent these to me this way and I failed to notice before install. However, I read on here that if you do the SS line upgrade, you can use the longer banjo bolts. I'm trying to avoid sending these back and fighting with rockauto because they have already been powder coated and what not.

Crappy photos but hopefully you get the idea

This happened to me using czp banjo bolts on one side. I ended up using the original banjo bolt with 2 or 3 copper wahers. It worked. Hope everything works out.

yea these are the bolts from z1. Probably the same ones. This is good to know. How long did you do that for?

Look up thread repair kit on amazon.

Costs like under $10 bux

I also stripped my first one trying to use the longer banjo bolts.

Many months on the thread repaired caliper and it's as if nothing even happened.

well it happened to me again with one of the damn rear brakes. I never had this issue with the brembo swap I did using the same bolts. I'm not sure. But I put back on the OEM bolt with 1 additional copper washer. So a total of 3, and it works fine like you said. I might have to go with this

well, this has been a complete disaster. Neither passenger front or rear will go on properly without leaking. Passenger rear, almost everything stripped within two seconds. Bleeder screw holes, the caliper mounting holes wouldn't even accept the bolts in whatsoever, and of course again the brake line hole. Everything just instantly stripped like it was the weakest metal ever. I have no idea why. I always finger thread on a bolt first, then use a regular ratchet. Either akebono makes really crappy quality stuff or rockauto is letting this stuff pass through. I never had this issue with brembo. I'm not even sure I can fight this with rockauto or not. From now on, I really should just order from stores in my area
