I think the time has come to change my struts. its a 2011' G37xS...Should I replace the struts or do a strut assembly....I ordered KYB struts for the front, but should I just order the full strut assembly ??

struts are just that , struts,...... the strut assembly comes fully assembled with "new" spring and upper mount.

The KYB aftermarket struts don't come with springs. You either re-use your existing or go with something lower.

I know that....., there’s a full strut assembly by SenSen I was looking at , I was only interested in the assembly cause I wouldn’t need a spring compressor and I could install myself

2013 Journey. 37,000 miles, owned since new, and no problems or repairs at all, just maintenance, until I found out last Thursday one of my front struts is leaking, Garage recommends replacing both, so Tuesday I'm going back to replace 'em to the tune of approx. $1,500. Yikes!

Who is trying to rip you off like this? The complete set of oem shocks/struts from KYB is like $300 FOR ALL 4 WHEELS. Install should be $150-$200 for the fronts.

I appreciate your concern. It's an independent garage I've gone to off and on for years, very, very low key, no high pressure at all, and they have been just as quick to tell me I don't need stuff done as they have been to tell me about stuff I do.They've saved me a bunch of bucks over the years, and since I know absolute zilch about how cars work, I'm inclined give them the benefit of the doubt. But thanks again.

For the record, the G37 uses shocks not struts. They are two entirely different types of suspension components.

Though I get that you have a long established and trusted relationship with your mechanic, that $1500 price tag seems very steep, IMO.

Either way, good luck.

I may have the terminology wrong, but in the long run, i feel I have no reason not to trust them after all these years, and besides, I really have better things to do than run all over town looking for the best of all possible deals. I really don't mean to sound snotty about this, and thanks - I appreciate your thoughts as well.

My front right strut was leaking in the fall too. I think it was from the crazy potholes/roads being cut on cross streets without warning signs in downtown DC.

I ended up going with the front KYB as they are near if not bit better than OEM. Installation was $240 plus $85 for alignment from a top rated local mechanic that is a Toyota master technican. The Struts themselves were ~$165 shipped plus tax on Rockauto. Please note the matching KYB Strut Bellow do not fit for some reason, but luckily original was still fine. Also, I got 2x Moog Strut mounts for the front which were top rated/heavy duty. Moog Strut mounts were much cheaper on Amazon.

Hi, how has your experience been with your new struts and strut mounts? Additionally, do you remember the part number of the strut bellow that did NOT fit on your car (which year)? Thanks.

Hey. Everything been great so far. I do hear a slightly noiser clank in speed bumps but also have driven over so many potholes as roads are trash here so not sure what that could be. Handling is great and only hear alight noise on speed bumps which have to pass several everytime I get out of my community.

The Bellow that did not fit is KYB SB123 which I had ordered from Rockauto. I have a 2013 G37X Sedan Automatic. For price I would recommend this setup and don’t forget about rebates for KYB to make deal sweeter.

Oh ok, thanks for your input. I am currently having my KYB struts installed alongside my previous Eibach springs.

Additionally, I obtained the strut bellow SB116 for my 2011 Infiniti G37 Coupe (which I confirmed by checking the part catalog online). I was confused with SB103 because Amazon said it fit, but when I called KYB's customer service they told me that model was for the 2008-2010 G37.

After ordering the KYB strut mounts, I saw on a thread from an individual that he heard their strut mounts weren't as good. Seeing as you went for the MOOG strut mounts, I'm wondering if you were familiar with any of these past complaints? Btw, when you had the strut mount installed, are you required to transfer the old rubber on the top onto the new mount?

Finally, I wasn't aware that KYB did rebates. I had ordered my struts and shocks from RockAuto a while back, thus I'm not sure if I still qualify, but if you are able to provide more information on this, then please do.
