Dealership can't solve coolant leak - Need advice
My water pump went bad and the car just kept dumping its coolant. I also drove mine to the mechanic, probably 10 miles with practically no coolant, no issues. Luckily it was cold out at the time....
The shop I went to only charged $500. Only issue I ever had with their work is that I needed a new hose not too long after. Wish they would have caught that, but luckily it was the top radiator hose so I could do that myself.

As I have said before, the water pump is likely the problem. I am 99% positive your engine/block is fine. While failure rates for these Aisin pumps are low, the seals can fail.
FWIW, a new, OEM water pump costs $70-100. I hope the repair facility is able to work with you on labor costs given the aggravation you experienced...

Knowing the audacity of Nissan/Infiniti dealerships near me, they probably won't. I hope I'm wrong though. The dealership in Fort Wayne is particularly bad... So hopefully your local dealer is better.
I am glad to hear that. Care to share more details? I towed my car to the Infiniti dealership. The technicians there think it is just a water pump. They will take the engine apart some time tomorrow to know for sure. This whole ordeal is very pricey, and I don't wish this on other G owners. As I said earlier, I hope someone can learn from my car and my thread in the future if they encounter the same issue.

Cheers for chiming in and sharing your thoughts and experiences. I still have not had a call from the dealership. The service advisor though gave me a heads up that it is a labor extensive job and will take some time to finish. I am expecting their call tomorrow. I spoke to a few friends earlier who are car guys and are pretty knowledgeable about cars. They all don't believe I have a messed up engine. They did tell me though that I should have took the car to a specialty shop here in town because I would have paid half of what I have spent so far.

When I had my water pump replaced, it took the shop about 2 days. Dealership will probably charge you however much their service manual says it should take, regardless if they finish the job early. Actually they're hoping for that so they can make more money... A friend of mine owns his own DIY shop and has one of these programs that breaks down any job you can think of for parts, labor, etc... and its ridiculous how long some of the jobs have time slots for.

General rule of car dealerships - they will rob you blind. I'd avoid taking your car there anymore unless absolutely necessary. Definitely take your friends' advice and find a local nissan specialty shop. Or at least a very reputable shop that works on Japanese cars regularly.

UPDATE: The service advisor called me and informed me that all tests went well and did not find a crack or any sort of damage to my engine. The coolant leak was because of the faulty pump and it was replaced with a brand new one. I took the car for a good 200 mile trip and it rans good as new. So far everything is good, and did not find any leaks in my garage or any time I parked the car. I would like to show appreciation to everyone who contributed to this thread, and hopefully my experience can benefit a fellow G owner in the future.

Thank you sir. I live in California. This is actually the most expensive and only major repair so far. It cost me a pretty penny, but over all worth it considering the fact I got treated really good at the Infiniti dealership and got a nice loaner for a few days. I would honestly go back to this Infiniti dealership if only it was close to where I live. It is just a hassle traveling there often with my hectic schedule.

Most dealerships are not a step above jiffy lube. Take it to a good shop, not only will u get better diagnosis and repairs, but probably 50% off the dealerRip.
Also often often time they dont want to work on your car. They rather sell u a new one.

Pardon my late post. I just realized there were a few replies.
Both are located in California. The Infiniti dealership was closer to SoCal.
Thank you sir. My overall total is around $2700 with the car towed. Fairly pricey, but it beats a new car payment lol.
Such a shame. I am currently looking for a good reputable independent mechanic, but they seem to be hard to find. I will never step foot in certain car dealerships again.
