Planning to run square 18x9.5 275/40 this spring. The big offset thread has one or two people with that setup. I never thought about steering rack issues. Hope I'm OK!
This sedan run 275/40 square. He runs that tire on some staggered wheels, 18x9.5 +33 and 18x10.5 +4_ (i forgot the exact offset of the rear)
Not to question his setup, but what's the point of running the same tire on staggered wheels? Wouldn't trying to stretch the tire on the rear affect the contact patch?

the contact patch and dimension of the 275mm tire does change between the 9.5 and 10.5 . He probably enjoys the neutral steering that comes with the square tire setup.
I always forget how the wider wheel changes the contact shape. i've only done testing on same tire, different wheel width, and different air pressure and load.

Why not have a square wheel setup then? Is there something to gain by having a staggered wheel setup with all the same tires vs a square setup all around?
Just trying to get a better understanding of the reasoning behind this. I plan to autocross my sedan in the future.

I can't fully speak for his reasoning. I know he has mentioned that he likes those wheels and are pretty rare and got it as a staggered set.
Guys, sorry for my english, i didnt understand some of your terms )))
Finally, 275 tyre in front will give me any problems with steering on the road or maybe it will give more workload on front suspension ?
I hope, I was able to express myself correctly

I don't imagine this would be an issue but would love to hear what a more technical member of the forums thinks since I'm also going to be running a 275 setup in front this year.
Just install 275/30/20 all around!
For your judgmnet
Some people says. that 275 tyre will load powe steering system, and i will buy new pupm very soon.
What do you think about power steering ?

Honestly in all my years owning this car I've never contemplated the additional load from a significantly larger contact patch on the power steering pump. I could see it making a difference. Mine did effectively die at 90k.

I dont understand, why your steering pump died at 90k ?
