I bought the car with this issue a year ago. I thought it would be a fuse or something simple.

I haven't done any modifications to it, and I'm pretty sure everything is stock from the single previous owner as well.

The car was initially bought from a dealer in a gulf country, so it is possible that a defogger is missing on this car (I'll update when I see if the rear window heats up or not).

It's going to be a tight squeeze, but I'll try to uncover the wrapped wires on the back of the connector to give you the colors. Theres no easier way to do this, or is there? I had to use the car so I put everything back together...

In other words, your car is GCC-Spec. That answers a few questions... Based on that, the wiring will be considerably different than US-Spec. We can still try getting it solved for you.

Unfortunately, no. Once you find the correct signal wire (pin 5/M69(?)), then it is just a matter of adding a switch and 12V+. Must find that wire, though.

IMPORTANT! : Look under the hood for a relay box near the brake master cylinder box- See if there is a mark for "REV LAMP RLY"...

Do you know what color pin 5 should be if this is the correct relay?

So exactly how would l go about it? Leave the relay connecred and run a wire from the back of it or get rid of the relay and connect from the front?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I don't have a clue
Also, where would you get 12V from?

Just start looking under the hood for relay boxes. JDM-spec cars (Japan) have the relay under the hood. This might be why you only have one relay in the center console stack.

Bare with me... plz...

I had a quick look, couldn't find that relay. I will dig deeper and get back to you

So the clicking for the defogger is coming from the left of the stereo I found the realy it's gray.

So the blue relay on the right must be the M69, see the picture for the colors of the wires, they are kind of faded but appears to be red, white, orange, and green.

Perfect. That is the M69 Backup Relay. It appears your wire colors match the FSM so that is a good sign. Now, just focus on pin #5 which should be a beige, tan, dull orange colored wire:

Now, if you remove the relay and use a jumper wire to apply 12V+ to pin #5, your backup lamps should light up.

ONLY TOUCH PIN #5!!!!!

This should send 12V+ directly to the backup lamps.

Let me know what happens and then we can go from there.

Electrical diagnosis and repair is a major headache. For what it is worth, thanks for being patient!

No, thank you for taking the time!

So what would be a suitable place to take 12V+ from, can I use pin #1 when I take off the relay and run the wire straight to pin #5? Since it is conveniently placed so close?

Technically, pins 1 & 3 should have 12V+ when the car is ON.

I think the issue is with pin #2- the ground signal for the relay coil which turns the relay ON.

First, verify that the lights come on when pin #5 is energized. Remember, pin #5 ONLY!

You my man are a genius! I put a jumper cable from pin #1 to pin #5 and I could see the camera turn ON on the screen!

I'm so excited, what's the next step?

Do me a favor... Run a jumper wire from pin #3 (light green) to pin #5 and see if it works, too.

Did you say you have a LED test light? Run the test light between pins 1&2 with the KEY ON and in REVERSE.

Trust me, there is a reason for this.

The weirdest thing, with the car OFF and I touch pin #1 and #2 with the LED the LED turns on, when I put the car in ON the LED does NOT turn on and neither when I put it in P

What about CAR ON and IN REVERSE GEAR...? That is the key question.
