18' VS 19' Wheel Bend?

So, I just recently acquired a rare set of the now discontinued SSR Type F's, in a 19 9.5 +38 set up.I live in Massachusetts where our roads aren't the best, and I constantly have to dodge potholes, dips, manholes. Now, should I worry about wheel bend on these wheels? I'm running a 255/35/19 set up for tires, and was told that these wheels will bend in about a month of driving them here in MA if I daily them. I can trade for a set of 18 inch Type F's, but I just don't know. I'm stuck and need some advice. What do you guys think?

The less sidewall you have, the higher the risk of bending a rim on a pothole. That said, 255/35-19 isn't overly narrow at all. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You know, I typically roll my eyes every time I read people describe their local roads as the worst ever, blah blah blah. However, Massachusetts drivers get a pass, because MA roads really are the worst. Every time I find myself driving through MA, I grumble how there's no way no how I'd own a lowered car in that state.

Yeah LMAOOO our roads are God awful. If anything going up in a higher sidewall would be better? Would it be worth it for me to go up to a 265/40/19?

your 255/35R19 is a 26" diameter and has a section height of 89.25mm. As the others have said, find a tire that has slightly more section height to protect the wheel, possible a 255/40R19 (27" diameter) is a choice if you want to stay 255. Find tire models that have bigger rim protector area if its a worry also. maintain your air pressure and you'll be ok. SSR is a quality brand and the type F is a strong wheel. It won't bend so easily I feel.

I had a set of 3 piece SSR MS1 with some rubber band 245/35R189 and 275/30R19 (mid 25" diameter) and bent my lip hitting a pot hole within the first few months of owning it. switched up to taller tires right after that.
