Looking for a tune
Hey all.
With this stimulus check coming in, I'm in the market for a tune on my 2012 G37 LE. Yes, it is sadly 7AT and AWD. I have already installed a CAI, ( K&N Typhoon) and have done a muffler delete on the car. I was just wanting to poke my head into possibly getting a tune done, and which company I should go for. -Side note, with the car being AWD and AT, is it even a good idea to tune it? Just thought I'd ask, and hopefully get some recommendations!
Thanks!

The tune is future debt he would have used a credit card to obtain. This is getting rid of debt before it even happens. Cheers OP. Watch youtube videos on the VQ tune. There are plenty. Make sure you shop around and get the BEST tuner possible. The videos on youtube will help you decide if you want it or not.
My G37S is a 7AT although rwd, engine is stock other than hps maf hoses and k and n drop ins. I got an e-tune by Seb at Specialty Z and have been very satisfied with it, especially throttle response and directness and firmness of shifts, plus some more power as well. Really made the car much more fun to drive so I recommend a Specialty Z tune.

Ironically, I'm going to where you're coming from as I recently got a C6 vette LOL. I haven't looked into chevy engine tunes though so don't have a point of comparison. But for G tunes, it's more than the tune itself, the costs also involve the hardware to flash the tune and the licensing as well, and they do add up. I've had a couple tunes from Cobb for subaru and a bmw and I'd say the overall costs of the accessport with a custom e-tune was a bit more with this ecutek, all in costs, but not huge a difference. But YMMV depending on tuner etc. I will say that even with a mostly stock G37, the tune really made the car and was worth the money. The shifts were really crisp due to increased line pressure and throttle response was nice, plus a noticeable bump in power across the curve. The only thing with the 7AT is that the downshifts would sometimes still lag a bit as I seem to remember the tranny computer isn't fully accessible to tuners or something along those lines but it was only in specific situations i.e. hammering it from light throttle vs. heavier throttle.
