Just picked up a white 2013 sport sedan and need to liven it up a little. Nothing over the top though.... What is the general consensus on over lays, pros vs. cons?
Thinking black chrome and then matte black for the rear valance. Can't decide if I like the mirrors black or if the whole roof would look good black???
That's what you need yes, but it's an absolute pain if you don't have a ton of experience. I've worked with vinyl a couple times before, I gave up on taillight overlays. Too difficult, I'll probably just pay $50 or so to have someone do it for me.
My opinion is to put this idea back on the shelf and look at it another day. Particularly if you have a white sedan, where you run the risk of going full Oreo. There's a subjective line crossed between what looks like it could be stock, and what looks obviously not-stock. Tinted taillights are obviously not-stock. Overrlays even more so.
If you're really wanting to do this, consider baking them open and using something like Nite-Shades on the inside.
If you haven't already went in for window tint, you could order an overlay sheet from Amazon for cheap and just have the shop install and trim them. I may be naive, but I feel like popping your taillights off and installing the whole sheet, then trimming would be easier than using pre-cut sheets (at 7x's+ the price) and trying to align everything perfectly. If they're already doing your tint, I would guess $40-75. If you buy the overlays and have a shop just install those, I'd guess $100+ (I was quoted $125 before).

That is a pretty good idea, although I already purchased the pre cut stuff.... I think I will have them installed when I get tint installed in a week or two
