Need help buying a northern sedan

I’m in the process of buting a northern car. I had the owner take some under body pictures. Can a northerner tell me if the rust in the pictures are concerning? I’m not familiar with the car so any help is appreciated.

First post on the forum. Hope to be learning and contributing in the near future.

Thanks you. The catalytic converter in the last picture has rust on the side. Is that just the heatshield?
Being a Texan, I'm a little paranoid about rust, lol...

That's exciting, congrats and good luck.

Like others have said, completely normal surface rust on the exhaust. It's fine, and from what I can see in these pics there are no worries here about winter corrosion. Also, an Illinois car is much less of a concern than say Boston or Buffalo.

Rear tire looks toasted, however.

Where in IL? If not far, I can take a look and give my 2¢ worth.

@Rochester, you should see the bottom of our accord. It's been an outdoor car (no garage) for 4 years.

OK, OK. How about instead of "much less of a concern" we change that to just "less of a concern"?

Pretty stand-up of you to offer to eyeball this guy's new G.

OP, you should take him up on that after you bring it home.

@Jsolo The car is in Highland, IL. It's a bit far from Chicago. I appreciate the offer, though!
@Rochester you're right about the rear tires. Seller is putting on new ones as part of the deal. Also, I'm driving it back to Texas.

HP isn't too far away. I can look at it, test drive it, inspect under hood, etc. PM with your contact info if you want to move forward with this.

What car is this? Looks like a rwd of some sort. Also, that exhaust looks like it's been replaced (based on the clamps).

Time for some new glasses. I saw northern, highland, and read it as Highland Park which is a northern suburb of Chicago. Instead, the car is some 300 miles away down south.

Good luck with the purchase.
