Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor

Hello,

I am getting seven half-second air bag light blinks when in the air bag diagnostic mode which indicates, "Air bag diagnosis sensor unit is malfunctioning or out of the specification." I tried to reset it to no avail but am going to try one more time. The car battery was just replaced but this was happening prior to.

1. Where is this unit located? The factory parts diagram is of no assistance

2. Could this be caused by a bad relay/fuse?

3. Has anyone experienced this and if so, what was the resolve?

4. The unit is over $700 so I emailed airbagsystems.com to see if they could resolve this.

5. Maybe it is just the harness. How can this be checked? Volt meter?

Thanks in advance.

The sensing and deployment module (SDM) is located under the rear portion of the center console. It has yellow plugs. You could also try 5-star airbags. They've been good when I've dealt with them.

I had the same exact problem only the light started flashing when trying to start my car several times with a battery that was failing. Got the battery replaced but the light remained same 7 flashes) and I couldn't clear it. Luckily it was still under warranty and I was able to get it replaced for free. They only true way to figure out the problem is to have a dealer check it but they will charge you a $125-$150 diagnosis fee. GL!
