2012 G37 Sedan Base Catback exhaust on budget

Hi guys, so I would like to upgrade my stock catback exhaust to something that sounds better and louder a little. At first, I wanted to do the muffler delete, but then I saw that many people said it would be really loud and too much drone while driving, so I changed my mind about it. I looked online and found Stopspeed and Manzo exhaust systems for less than $600, and I would like to know your opinions as well as your experiences on the exhaust systems please. I also open to other brands that you may suggest me. Thank you very much guys.

P/s: I just want to go for the sound than the performance.

If you want to go budget, don't get a full catback. Get topspeed. They're the budget route. I think they have a axleback for $300 and midback for $400. Biggest complain i hear about topspeed is that they're prone to rust. So if you're in a place with a lot of precipitation, keep that in mind.

Cheapest full catback I would get is invidia gemini for about 900.

I'm sure you'll get people saying they love their manzo/beluga/megan/etc. Buy at your own risk.

Or keep an eye out on for sale section and buy it used. You can also just get a HFC first.

I heard mixed reviews about the manzo systems. Tbh, I am kind of lending to topspeed since they have their actual store in TX though. However, I want it to sound better than want to increase the HP. Thank you.

I seem to recall there was someone here who had a satisfying setup with the Tanabe Medallion axle-back and a pair of aftermarket resonators welded into place.

With that in mind, and considering "Noise on a Budget"... you could keep your OEM cans, and have a local shop delete your OEM resonators, welding in a pair of straight pipes in their place. That's almost entirely a labor-cost project. Not recommending it, per se, but it's worth considering. Or at the least, something to talk about.

How good is the topspeed axle back only? I see they listed it for only $300. Thanks.

I forget who did it first, but yea this is what I currently have. Tanabe medallion with 12 inch vibrants. It's not bad, but honestly I wish the tone was a lower / deeper sound.

I think that's a solid plan for a budget exhaust, insofar as calling the $600 axle-back "budget". Add the resonators, and labor costs, you're inching towards $1000.

Anyway, you should describe it in more detail for the OP, with video if you have it. Finding the right tone and volume is entirely subjective, and no matter what you do there's some kind of compromise somewhere.

I'll take a in car video today, and if i can find my suction mount ill get a bumper clip.

As far as cost... I picked up the Tanabes from a member here for $300, vibrants were $100 for two i think, and I welded them in myself. (but it might cost around $150 to have somebody weld them in for you)

That is a valid concern.

Pulled this off my dashcam.... just cruising around part throttle in the vid. I did merge onto the highway at WOT in one clip but i had the radio on so I didn't include it.

I'm living in a really quiet area, so I really don't want to upset the people around here. I'm looking for something can be louder when needed and a little bit quiet when needed; something that can be kind of loud when I floor the throttle. As of right now, I'm looking more into the Invidia and Topspeed systems. If I don't mistake that any axle-back exhaust doesn't do any big difference than the stock, right?

Yeah, the axleback by itself basically sounds stock.
