Best exhaust for TT KIT

Hello everyone,

I currently have a 2.5" CBE and was about to install a TT kit. would it really make a huge difference if I changed to a True Dual exhaust? My tuner told me it doesn't make that much of a difference but I have heard that its very crucial to have a 3" true dual exhaust. If I need to change Exhaust What companies even make a true dual exhaust for the g37 sedans? any other recommendations?

Closest off the shelf product you can get for a sedan would be Motordyne which is 2.5" to the muffler and 3" from the muffler on. I don't know if they offer a full 3" system for the sedans, but wouldn't hurt to ask. The other option, which I did, is to get a custom 3" exhaust made with mandrel bent piping (pie cuts). I used a magna flow 3" in / out X pipe muffler on my setup.

That being said, a 2.5" may be good enough for at least 500-550 whp.

Well what if I was going above 550hp? Would it hurt to have a 2.5"? Your exhaust looks nice btw! Any way could you post a sound clip?

I currently have the ARK Grips, but does the Meistierschaft really make that much of a difference? or is it expensive because of the name. I might end up just having a custom exhaust like TTV36. it seems to be working well him and might be more cost effective. at the end of the day I still want to put money into other aspects of my car. I just cannot justify dropping 3k- 4k on a exhaust lol.

If you already have an exhaust keep it. I have no idea what you have done for your TT preprations and if you will be looking for over 550whp you will probably be better off spending on other mods to support such as a built transmission (I'm assuming you have an auto based on previous posts, which BTW will start slipping around 450whp), Stage 2 or 3 Fuel System, Motor/Transmission/Differential mounts, LSD, DSS axles, even better suspension/brakes, etc.

I have a sedan but I am Doing most what you (TTV36) listed all at once. the transmission, motor, and fuel system. going e85 as well with the TT kit install. already have a quote from seb At specialty Z. I have the akebono breaks that come standard with the S trim will that do? ill ask him about the differential mounts, LSD, suspensions and DSS axels. He said that the install will give me the greddy boost controller so that I could change my boost by hand from low, medium and high. low being 6 psi, medium being 9psi and hi being 13psi. i am sure majority of the time i will be running around 6 to 9 psi. which is maybe 500hp im guessing? Since you have been TT for awhile would you recommend getting anything else? any advice about the install and key supporting mods are always appreciated.

@Snorlax haven't you talked to Sebastian about your concerns? He should bet he most qualified to answer your questions on the exhaust. He has a FI TT setup on his 370. Did you tell him you have an ark?

BTW ark is a true dual. At least the coupe version is; has X pipe.

Yea I told him, he said it would be fine but when I read threads about how much a true dual 3 "exhaust is needed on a TT set up I get worried lol maybe I am just worried for nothing. Thats why I came to the forums for peace of mind. My ark exhaust is 2.5" in diameter though does that not matter then?

The answer is likely you don't need 3". If your top end goal is 500ish WHP, you may not need 3". You're not trying to make 700whp here.

Just trust Sebastian. He has a great reputation in this community and the Z community. No idea who advised 3" and if that advise suites your build.
