2010 Break Jutter and Exhaust Rattle Help

Alright so I bought a 2010 g37x sedan not to long ago and im loving it but I have noticed while driving down the mountains and on highways I will get sever break jutters and my wheel will shake. I also noticed a rattling noise coming from under the car (sounds like the exhaust). I've looked these problems up and see that im not the only one with them. Are either of these problems under warranty. My car just hit 55k miles.

It's "brake judders". Do four really hard stops for 60 mph or so and report back. Can't help with exhaust rattle. Plenty of people have posted about that, a search should net you something.

Don't forget the exhaust and tire/wheel forums.

Check the brake rotors are not warp. I had the same issue with my wife's minivan. About the rattle so I can not help you on that either.

Rotors rarely warp these days. It's uneven deposits of pad material on the rotor that cause that symptom. Lots of light braking is the culprit.

Good at least I do not have to worry about that on my baby......tapping the breaks often and lightly.

My dad has had an x since 09 and now has 145k and has had his brakes warp causing it to judder like you said. I've also read before that the brakes don't cool well and thus warp easily. They've warped twice

Could be rotors but doubt it.

You may just need to change your brake pads. Do you know when the brakes pads were last changed?

Rattling. Have you checked underneath your car? Do a visual inspection and see if anything came loose. I've had stuff come loose and scrape, which can cause noise.

Brake judder can be caused by a bunch of things and the most common is being too thin. In many cases folks use new pads with an old rotor that has been cut to thin or has been worn. Cheap rotors are also more likely to warp. Today's low wear low dust ceramic pads cause a lot of heat and if pared with cheap rotors they warp easily.

I used to have my rotors cut and they would warp occasionally. Now I just use new high quality rotors and high quality pads and have not had an issue since.

Best way to confirm is to use a dial indicator on your rotor.

Your exhaust rattle is most likely a heat shield. THey rust and become loose. You can tear them off or buy some galvanized or stainless wire and secure it.
