Sedan Demand?

So I've recently made the decision of selling my 2012 Journey for versatility reasons. I found its replacements already and everything is set except for one thing: selling my car!

I'm just wondering what's going on. Is there just no demand for sedans or autos or what? My car is in excellent condition yet I've gotten very few serious inquiries about it. I see comparable ones at CarMax and dealerships running for a couple k higher, but I still can't seem to get a bite.
On top of that, what are some things I can do to get things going? I'll be moving soon and can't wait for too long, but I still need enough out of it to buy its replacements.
Sorry in advance if this isn't the right place to put this, but the current G market has me very confused.

well i ran into this problem when i sold my corvette a few year back. people in the market looking to buy a used car are very wary of private sellers. the quality of car can vary drastically, and then the headache of having to do all the paperwork and registration them self. i tried to sell my corvette for about 6 months until i gave up and sold it to carmax. albeit i was selling a very niche car. so good luck, also couldnt hurt to see what carmax would offer you for it.

Thanks. I went to a few dealers and Carmax who offered 13.8k. Also thinking about things like Carvana and such, any experience there?

Taking it to carmax / used car dealer should be a last resort.

Clean it up nice, make it shiny, then take some nice pictures and it will help a lot. Different anglels showing everything. When I look at used car ads I always skip over the ones with 1 or 2 crappy pictures which only show like, 1 wheel. Also cross-post it to all of the car listing sites, autotrader, cars.com, etc.

I've taken several cars to CarMax for appraisal, and they have consistently been about $2,000 lower than I got when trading in my car at another dealer.

I don't think the problem is demand, but supply. There are an abundance of G37 Journey's on the market. No offense, but $17K is a lot for a 6 model year old car with 60K.

Infiniti did it's owner base no favors when it let the G37 solider on as the heavily discounted Q40.

Post your car for free on CarGurus.com. I've seen some private sales completed rather quickly.

I let the rain make it sparkle, and just posted to CarGurus, thanks for the tip. Recommended price was about 16,500- 60k miles for a G is just getting broken in!
Totally with you though, Q40 was a bad move, I think on all sides.

Wish you luck! Seems like everything that I put in my favorites on there sells very quickly and a lot are private sellers. I think a Craig's list sale has a certain Stigma about it, in that the only postings are from people looking to scam you....or wear your skin.

Took many pictures for the last few cars sold.

At least 8 showing various outside angles (front, rear, left/right sides, angle pic for each corner). Close up of seats, floor, instrument cluster inc odometer, all switch gear on each door, inside of hood, inside of trunk, wheel detail, sunroof (if present), edge shots showing door alignment on each side from front and rear, inside of door panels (showing no rust). All told, I probably had 30+ pics.

Pics of course should be clear, in focus, with only the subject framed - preferably no other cars if possible. Definitely no feet, pets, or other such distractions. We have a large parking lot near the whole that's vacant after hours. Makes for a good shooting location.

Yeah, I have a lot of pics, but it seems there's generally a limit of some kind...CarGurus was 8 and on here it was 10.

What about including a link to the pics in the description? I sold both cars through CL. While I couldn't include a clickable link, one could copy/paste.

That's a good idea, never thought of it. But I feel if someone was seriously interested, they would get in touch with me and ask for more pictures right?
Did you sell your G? How much did you advertise for/what were your car details, if I may ask?

^^People are very lazy these days and need everything handed to them Making them reach out is asking too much IMO. Unless your listing hooks them in some other way, they'll likely move on to the next.

The two cars were my old z28 and a family members pontiac grand prix. I can't find the gp pics at the moment, but here's the camaro.

The G won't be for sale for some time unless I get a bug to get something else.

Wow, you're too right, it's sad. Alright, that's quite detailed, I'll do the same as soon as I can.
HAHA! Enjoy every second of it!

Here's the GP pics. I think I went overboard a bit. Car sold in about 2-3 weeks for a slightly higher than what most were going for (very low mileage).

The camaro was leaking from every possible gasket and had a blown brake line - also, ebrake cable snapped some years back. Buyer was some kid. Car left on a tow truck. Still, $3K wasn't bad. To add the icing on the cake, damn thing threw a DTC on the day they came to pick it up.
