Over the last 15 years, there have been times when I've momentarily mistaken an Altima for a Maxima. But I have never, ever mistaken a Maxima for an Altima.

Ok, from the front I agree it looks pretty damn close.

Audi is definitely at the top in terms of design laziness. Nissan is usually pretty good at design effort and making the cars different from each other. I guess they're taking a break this gen

This is true. While there are some similarities in styling between some models, they aren't trying to sell Chevy Cobalts as Pontiac G5s...

With that car in the family, should make your plans for the Leaf commuter and weekend Elise a whole lot more palatable. Unless she doesn't let you drive, in which case the G is a keeper.

"doesn't let you drive" No, she is always the one who wants to drive my car as it is always faster. However, she likes to hit curbs so I am a little leary to let her drive.

I guess you could argue the same thing about similarity in styling with the Altima and our cars. They have the same dual exhaust, bumper shape, trunk shape, roof line, back window shape, wheel well, side windows, etc. About the only thing drastically different is the tail lights.

^That's after the facelift. The styling will mimic the Q line more than the G since they evolved together. That said, the Q and Altima are more distinguishable than the early 5th gen Altima and the G.

I remember the Altima coupe referenced as the poor man's G35 in college since they were similar in styling.

I think you are talking about matching colors of parts and I am talking about styling and the different lines. The two cars you posted above both have the Midnight package so they are supposed to look very similar in color combo with black diffuser, wheels and spoiler.

The styling and shapes of all the parts I listed earlier are a lot more different between these two than our cars and the Altima- especially the much more sharply angled roof, sculpted sides, square back window, floating roof, etc. of the Maxima.

Both of the cars below do look similar, but not a single part is shared between the two cars and the difference in presence, quality, and width in person is pretty striking.

Did you plan on doing the same Rim setup on both of your cars? My Wife drives a QX60 and I have a G37xS and I was thinking of doing the same rims on both vehicles, obviously like 19'' on the sedan and 22'' on her truck. But then again I would only want to do 2 different sets because of variety!

Originally bought the ones for the qx60, and then when I saw theones on the xs, I had to have them. I agree, I did want something diffrent but was drawn to the same basic design. The ones on the qx60 are a little more square whereas the xs ones are more rounded in the edges. Yes they are 22s on the qx and 19s on the xs
