Wow was that thing dirty. This was the first time I changed mine and it has 75,000 miles on her. I can't believe I was breathing that crap, I won't wait that long again.
I changed mine when I bought the car, which was at 22k miles. The filter was already pretty nasty, so yes, I would definitely not recommend waiting until 75K again. Maybe every 15-20k miles.
