Need Dealership advice

I would like some feedback on my current issue. I had the infamous water leak on the passenger side which ended up being the wiring harness grommet by the battery. The car is not modified in anyway to cause this issue. This issue was diagnosed by my local dealership. Their fix was to use silicon paste along the inside of the grommet which did work but I do not feel this is a permanant solution or the best solution. Now my issue is they gouged the heck out of the paint all around the grommet to bare metal. Dealership said they would touch it up. We all know how a dealership touchup would be not to mention with all that silicon around that grommet the paint won't stick.

I do have the Infiniti Elite warranty on my 2012 G37 but them using grease to fix the issue wasn't covered but if they replaced the harness it would be covered.

Would it be wrong to demand them to replace that wiring harness (grommet not sold separate), clean up the grease and touchup the gouges? The elite warranty should cover the harness but now since they touched it it has their 12 month warranty.

I would demand for them to fix their patch job. Di they consult with you prior to the silicone fix? If so then not sure how much of a leg you have to stand on to a degree, now if they didnt, then theres your ammo.

Makes no sense why they would try to rig the fix knowing you have th elite warranty, would have been easier and done correctly the 1st time.

I would absolutely request that they repair the car in the correct fashion. Its not like you are asking them to do anything under the table. I would just speak with a service manager and explain your situation.

No they did not consult me. They claimed the part was perfectly fine and did not need replaced.

Just an update. They agreed to pursue the replacement of the harness, BUT they were making sound like it was a huge deal. Service rep told me that they would have to take apart 3/4ths of the car. I told him it was the engine harness not anything more. So over and over again he told me i was wrong so I gave up on that conversation. He said his service manager has been doing this 10 years and that the harness goes through the dash and everywhere else. So i asked if they would take out the grommet again, clean up all the silicon grease, touchup the paint and reseat the grommet with an rtv or sealant. Then his response was "whose going to pay for that?" Its like who messed up my paint to begin with and didn't fix it properly. I mean they didn't even ask me what I wanted to do when they were fixing it.

This is so aggravating.

Take out that aggravation on a Saturday on the Showroom floor during peak sales hours....Make sure you mention unsanctioned repairs, 0% customer Fault, and 0% dealership responsibilities for destroying your vehicle. Be sure to speak with the volume at at least 95%

well, it all depends on the dealership. Honestly, you should go to dealer B and tell them what happened at dealer A also tell dealer B that you have heard really good reviews about them, that's why you came here before trying dealer C.
like this, you may not even have to fight dealer A. just avoid them.
they get paid by infiniti to do the job anyway, it's mostly to them, how good they want to treat you.
Here in south Florida, we have 3 dealers within 50 miles range of my home. all 3 are fighting for my business. I get excellent customer service at all 3.
I really really used my warranty lol. this includes changing both front seats. they put new ones at 30 and 45k miles.

Works if there's dealerships to fight over you. In my scenario, possibly OP's, Closest dealership is 40 miles away....next is 60 mi away. They know they're your only choice so to combat that you sometimes need to present yourself as a PITA every time you visit if that's the way they want to treat you and you're gonna tell anyone that will listen between the front door and the service dept.
