Keep G37 or move to Q50 Red Sport??
OP if you do get a Q50 get one without the atrocious Direct Adaptive Steering.
In hind sight not alot of gain when comparing the 2, however once you start modding the RS and get a tune...you can expect 400+whp easily. For whatever thats worth to you
I went from a 2014 Q60 6-mt to a Q50 Red Sport. While many on here would attest to my utter dislike of the 7-AT that Nissan Infiniti offers, I am very impressed with the power of the new VR30ddtt motor. The power makes up for the archaic transmission (oh please please Infinit give us a double-clutch). The torque is awesome and for a large family car, it really moves. I am very happy with car, with some basic mods that I'm currently doing to it, the car will very much personalized to my taste. Below is a dyno chart from Fast Intentions that in my opinion show the potential of the car as well as some stock dyno numbers. Here is some good info our friends at Concept Z Performance (CZP) did on the turbo's from the VR30ddtt motor. (note: the dyno charts are based on just a cat-back CBE and a Full cat-back with down pipes)

Hey Greco, not to thread jack but I think the biggest gain for the G is installing a nice x pipe setup. Check out my build thread and look how I modded the OEM exhaust. Will be doing another dyno run soon to see results
Thanks for the info guys. I will see what you added but at the same time I do not want to much noise even if it is a sweet noise. Any Y-pipe will add anything? Based on what I read here minimal to none in most cases.
Goonz, how much of a factor is the DAS? I like the RS and figured it would be a contender in 3-5 years when I enter the market again but from what everyone is saying about the DAS it has me very close to crossing it off the list. Would love to stay with the Infiniti product when the time comes - especially with the sudden interest my family now has in them since I've gotten the G37 ha ha, and the fact I love the G37; but the Qs competition is stout...what made you decide to go with it at the end of the day?
So many people are freaked out by negative reviews of Direct Adaptive Steering. It's kind of silly... just go drive the cars back to back.
The G37 non-Sport models have a steering ratio of 16.4:1, whereas the RWD-Sport model has a steering ratio of 14.7:1. The difference between the two is very noticeable, IMO. The RWD-Sport model is simply a tighter driving experience. Because racecar, LOL.
The Q50 without DAS has a steering ratio of 16.9:1, which is slightly more relaxed than the non-Sport G37. However, the G50 with DAS has a steering ratio range between 12.07:1 to 36.98:1. In other words, it should be seriously tight when needed, and comfortably loose when applicable.
On paper, DAS should be the better system. But in the real world...?
Go drive it.
In other news, the Q50 has a wider turning diameter. Because land barge.

I haven't crossed it off the list yet but it's one of those things that I see repeating itself. What someone else may not like - one may end up loving. I've actually seen a couple people mention that they love the 7AT while common consensus says they'd rather chew glass than own another car with a A/T that behaves like it. At the end of the day, I'll drive it and give it a hard look but I wanted to see if Goonz has noticed what people have mentioned about the DAS. I think my X has a relaxed feeling that I'm not fond of now (taking everything I have to hold off on a sway bar purchase) so I can't imagine what 36.98:1 would feel like.

Aftermarket sways won't affect your steering ratio, but you will certainly feel better steering response and control because of the reduced body roll.
And yeah, the DAS ratio range shocked me, too.
Here are the two pages I got all that info from:2011 Infiniti G37 Sedan Specifications | Infinitihelp.com
2014 Infiniti Q50 Specifications | Infinitihelp.com
Thank you for posting those. I was just about to Google and read up more on it. You're right, it wont do anything for the ratio but the body roll will tighten up and maybe that's what I'm missing. The car still handles nicely but I'm comparing it to an RX8 and my previous car with sways.
Not sure if you saw this, but this grabbed my attention a few moments ago:

If that idea gets refined and the pricing makes them the obvious choice, I think Infiniti has a real opportunity to compete with MB's AMG and BMW's M series.

I'd also like to read Goonz's response. He's owned a RWD Sport G, and a G37xS that he was less than enthusiastic about, and now the Q50S, so he should be uniquely qualified for that opinion.

The DAS is improved in the 2016 model from the first gen 2014. The feel is a bit different at first but you can select the type of steering input along with ride comfort to whatever you desire. I honestly don't feel it anymore and like Rochester said, just drive it and if you like it then there you have it.
I just had my rear Stillen sway bar installed (stiffest setting), I immediately felt less body roll which a larger car such as a Q50 would suffer from. Although my snow wheels/tires are on, I still felt a lot less roll on off ramps. I need my Michelin PSS installed to really open up the car. Again, just drive it and see how you like it, that's all it comes down to in the end.
Not much to add then what has already been said...
I came from a 13' G37xS and decided to go with a 15' Q50S AWD at my end of lease.
My payments are actually less per month...main reason that my wife decided to go for the Q50.
Unfortunately, the RS400 wasn't available yet at that time so the only choices was either lease another G37(Q40) premium or a Q50.
I was lucky that my dealership had a demo Q50S AWD loaded in stock or I would have bought out and financed the G37xS instead.
After a year has passed driving the Q50S, I'm quite pleased with my decision...it's no RedSport, but it definitely is a more refined vehicle compared to the G37xS.
As far as the DAS goes, I highly prefer the handling with it then without...I even prefer mine over the current version that is in the 2017 Q50 Premium.
With a few bolt on mods, I feel that I will keep this until the next full redesign of the Q50 in 2020(?).
Here is my thread about my switch...I hope it might help in your decision.
