Engine Trouble
Hi.
I'm new to this forum and I bought a used 2009 G37 three months ago - 111,000 miles on it. I love it.
Yesterday I was driving for about 30 minutes at a fairly constant 75 miles per hour. It was raining heavily, if that makes a difference. When I slowed down, the car started kind of jerking and feeling powerless. I could not get any speed into it and it even conked out at one point. Luckily I was only a mile from home so I was able to 'limp' there.
Any ideas what could have happened? It worked okay today but I feel like the car is not as responsive. Not sure if I'm just paying more attention.
I'm going to bring it to a shop in the next few days but has anyone got any idea what might be happening?
Thanks!

The car went into "limp mode" intentionally to allow you to limp to safety while minimizing damage to your car. There is something wrong with it but it could be a number of things so unfortunately no one can psychically tell you what that is. If you have an OBDII reader you can read the codes and look up what they indicate. The car won't allow the engine to rev beyond 2500 RPM in any gear.
As far as a guess, worst case scenario is that you're experiencing the rear timing cover gasket failure that a number of us have exlerienced. There's tons of threads on it here on the forum. Look them up.
Best of luck.

Are you sure the fiberboard shroud underneath the vehicle is intact?
If missing water splashing up underneath the vehicle could possible cause electrical problems.
Be very careful what shop you are considering.
You may want to consider paying the nearest Infiniti dealer to thoroughly check out your vehicle, run the VIN number and give you whatever history their records show since you bought the vehicle used. They can also tell you if any TSB's were completed.
Good luck

Sorry to hear that, and welcome to the site BTW
If you have an Autozone, O'Reilys, PepBoys etc nearby and can just drive it easily to one of those shops they can read the codes for no charge, then look up or post those codes here to define what may have happened. G/L
