09 g37 65K question

I need 4 new brake pads and potentially resurfacing of the rotors/new ones. If anyone has replaced their rotors on their G what mileage did you have to do it at? Is 65k to early for rotors? The problem is the dealer is a rip off and the shops I want to go don't resurface. What do you think?

Just buy new ones then if they need to be replaced, some shops won't resurface them if they are less than a certain mm so if you want oem replacements check rock auto for the centric premium rotors that are slightly better than stock. 65k is plenty of mileage for rotors maybe they do need replacement check with a mechanic and also centric posi quiet brake pads as well

Brakes are a consumable item for all cars. When to replace them depends on how you drive as much as the mileage. If you're skeptical, just get out the micrometer and measure them yourself.

Just got mine replaced at 63k with centric premium rotors with centric posi-quiet pads. Just resurface the OEMs and get the brake pads done.

i did centric premium rotors on my '09 at 40k, but not due to wear. i had uneven pad deposit causing shaking (i.e. warped rotors). i also did the pads while i was at it.

rockauto is usually the best pricing. and lots of pad choices. i went with Akebono ProACT. it is a very simple DIY so i recommend that route.

I second the use of the Akebono ProAct pads. I went from cleaning my wheels about every 3 days, to doing them every 10 days or so. Got the centric rotors and the Akebono pads from Rock Auto. Hello happy brakes, goodbye excessive brake dust!!!!

What price did you get from the dealer?

Get yourself a set of Stoptech rotors you won't be disappointed at all. That's what a majority of members here upgrade to when it comes time.

Try to stay away from dealerships when it comes to installing anything. Their labor prices are just to high compared say to a different small personally owned yet reputable mechanic shop. We have a bunch of then scattered around where I live in NJ.

What makes it even better for me is for the odd jobs I can't or just don't feel like doing, I 'shop' around and compare prices wirh each owner and they all want to give you the best price for the job and beat out their competitors.

I personally know a number of owners in my area so whichever ship I take it to, depending on their availability, I know I'm going to get a good price. Find yourself a place that their price is fair and have a reputation for doing good work. Yelp is a really great tool as well to get customer reviews for a certain shop if you're not certain about their reputation.

Best of luck and let us know what you end up deciding on doing.
