Question: Does your hood flex? (2013 G37)

I've searched and searched and this topic doesn't seem to come up. My hood was recently replaced by the Infiniti dealership and the part number they used is a revised part. I don't remember my old hood flexing, I've owned a 2008 g35 and this 2013, it seems like some pretty bad flex/ripple in the top layer of the hood, but maybe its one of those things you focus on once the works been done?

When I hit large bumps the hood travels a good 1/2" in the center near the windshield, is this normal or should I pursue a claim with them?

Mine was replaced recently due to a deer strike, and it flexes. Don't know if it did before though or not

Interesting responses, I don't remember mine flexing before the replacement, I'll take a video and post it up tomorrow. I'm concerned because Coulter Infiniti in Mesa replaced the hood with what they claimed to be OEM, and diagnosed the hood with "normal flex".

I suppose the next step is to compare it with one on the lot! It's still a warranty item and based on the responses, it may be a defective replacement.

Thanks for the input guys.

What is flex exactly mean? Mines seems like when I'm going really fast it's scary and seems like it's has force or when it's really windy is that normal? Is that what flex means

My hood does flex. Our hood is made from aluminium and does not have the same strength as steel. Totally normal and nothing to worry about.

My hood flexes on the interstate at about 65-75+ mph. I don't know that it travels 1/2", but it might. I thought it was odd, but I didn't think much of it. 2011 g37x original hood.

Short answer...yes it flexes.
I doubt it should travel much front and back though...

If you want to see it really flex, take it to an automatic car wash watch the hood when you go through the high speed air dryer.

Cool cool. So I took the car to the dealership and drove another 2013 G37 and also a 2015 Q40 and they act identical to my hood, good news that its normal and no cause for concern.
