Moral of the story...

Moral of the story is don't let your wife drive your car! Long story short, I was sick last Tues and Wed, wife takes my car for god knows what reason to drop off the kids. It was raining that day, comes back and wakes me up to tell me she "broke" my car.

She ran over the yellow parking curb and then proceeded to reverse back out and completely tore the bumper off. Looks like it was cut evenly on both sides. Mind you my car has been lowered for years now and she obviously knows this and has driven my car 100's of times.

Ouch

My fiancee is a pretty good driver, but she's only driven my car twice. Both times because I was too drunk to drive.

Wow... how would you even manage to do that. You'd hear the scraping noise way before you went over the curb??

Anyways at least it looks like only the lip is damaged not the actual bumper.

I am surprised she brought the broken piece back. If it was my wife she would say it was my fault because I lower the car. Anyway definitely it is time for "honey I have to fix that but they told me it will cost about $2000.00"
They have their shopping sprees it is time for yours.

I'm lucky that my wife can't drive a manual. She has my old '03 Maxima and I've seen the underside of it's bumper since she started driving it last year. Occasionally I'll ride with her or meet up somewhere and she always pulls right over the curb. Of course I give her hell for it, but women never change. "It's just a car!" she says.

Bright side of things as said before is that it was only the lip. Also I'm glad to hear the wife and kids are all okay. If I posted pictures of the curb rash on my wheels due to my finances driving I'd probably be thrown off the forum lol I got really upset the first couple of times but now it's become a 2nd nature. But I promise once my new vossen wheels come in she is BANNED from driving it lol I'll figure out another form of transportation for her soon hopefully

dang, that sucks. hopefully there isn't further damage under the car, not sure how far she drove over the curb. most likely just the lip and maybe the panel under the engine took the brunt of damage. hopefully no suspension parts (sway bars) were mangled.

i guess everyone has one of those days, and if the OP's wife is like most i'm sure she felt terrible and the OP probably doesn't have to worry about this happening again - she'll be afraid to touch his car for a while.

i installed the RJM pedal in my ride partially so my wife could drive my car from time to time - but she's only ever driven it with me in it. she did not like the stock pedal feel, and i can see why since she has always owned manual hondas. not that i wouldn't give her the keys on her own, but she's never asked.
