Whats the best sounding exhaust for my car?

Hi everybody, I just recently bought a 2012 G37x and I was wondering what is the best brand of exhaust to get for my car. I want something that will add performance and let it breathe better. And for the sound I wanted something kinda deep and muscly, not something loud and raspy that sounds like a ricer. My research seems to find that Stillen and the ARK Performance seem to be the best but since I'm new i wanted some more opinions. Oh and I also want a cat back as well no axels.

Best exhaust

I recently installed my ARK Grip cat-back system for my 09 G37x sedan and I love it. I was going to go with Stillen but I decided not to due to complaints about rust due to being driven year round in snow. Since I live in the midwest I went with ARK and I could not be happier. The sound is great especially combined with the R2C high flow intakes.

At least there was this bit of fun in yet another tell-me-what-to-buy thread. Thanks for that, ToXIc. I genuinely choked on my iced tea.

I didn't think Motordyne's Shockwave was fitted for the AWD Sedan... I thought it was RWD only, like the ARK. Or maybe I'm thinking of their cats and TP's.

OP, you've got at least half a dozen common choices, more if you dig hard and research your car. You should probably do that.

Fast Intentions! Everyone has a different taste in sounds so it all comes down to what sounds best to your ears. youtube different exhaust and narrow it down. I don't like the stillen and ark sound but that's my opinion.

Personally this is my order for best sounding

Meisterschaft, Ark, Motordyne, Fast Intentions, Stillen, Tanabe

Went with Ark myself. I would have gone with Meisterschaft but college tuition and insurance payments means I had to skimp a bit

The question you are asking is like asking "What woman is the best looking? I don't like really obese ones or anorexic ones, and I like them to be pretty. I've seen some nice looking blondes and some brunettes that I like. Opinions please!"

The answers you receive will be 100% subjective. And most people will simply tell you that whatever they have is the best, or whatever they've heard other people say is the best. The only way for you to know what's best for you is to do some searching and find information and sound clips of each one. Then if at all possible, find one locally and have a listen.

Also, as you are new to this, keep in mind that many of the answers you receive will be invalid because you have an AWD car and most of these do not fit the AWD, except with modification. At least you did specify, which is good, but you'll still have people telling you about exhausts that don't fit your car.

Good luck. And the clear answer is Motordyne E370. But it doesn't fit the X.

Well, let me know what you end up getting and how it sounds. "Preferably how it sounds after it's been broken in" I'm in the same boat. 2011 G37x Sedan. Just posted something today. Indecisive.

can anyone explain "breaking in" an exhaust? I dont really get why it would change its sound after a while.

Both Stillen and ARK are made from 304 Stainless so I don't think you will gain any rust prevention. That being said, I live in WI with plenty of salt on the roads in the winter. No rust issues with my Stillen exhaust.

As with most Stillen products, the fitment and built quality are good and the performance is noticeably stronger. The thing I like best about this exhaust is the sound. It has a nice rumble to at low rpms and sounds great when you open it up. Not too loud when you don't want it, but a nice rumble at higher rpms.

If that is the sound you are looking for, the Stillen would be a great option. If I were you, I would look up a lot of these exhausts on Youtube to see what they sound like and pick the one you like best.

Yeah. After it's installed, drive it. BOOM! Broken in!

I'm personally looking for something that has a low rumble. Stillen is "probably" what I'll get. Thanks for the info 4DRZ.
