Looking for the best option for a replacement grille for a 2013. Just like the picture below.
That's the OEM midnight black grille. Can be had for roughly $300-400. You can also get your current grille wrapped in gloss black vinyl, or get it painted. Both would be cheaper than the OEM grille.
Even though there are pics of both a Journey Sedan and a Sport Sedan in the ebay listing, the listing is for a Coupe Midnight Grille, in the Coupe sub-forum, talked about by Coupe members for the 2008 - 2015 G37 Coupe and Q60.
Coupe, Coupe, Coupe...
OP, remove the grille from your car, drop it off at a reputable body shop, spend about $100 for a professional paint job. /done
I wouldn't recommend plastidip. Looks very cheap. It doesn't have a deep black gloss finish. More like a matte rubber finish.
I would only recommend plastidip for emblems and decals. Not grills or wheels
I agree with you. I plastidipped the rims, trunk lettering, and front grille emblem on my 02 i35. When first applied and cleaned they looked awesome, but it never lasted. Only the rims showed the true dullness after time everything else you couldn't really tell. I'm looking for more of a shine to match how the car already looks.
posted a thread about them being sold on eBay about two years ago for $150. the seller I used doesn't sell them any more and doesn't seem to be any selling at that price right now. you may want to keep checking. part # F2310-1NF1A

Assuming the OEM part can't be found, I agree that paint is the best option.
Since this is a smaller part paint won't be too expensive relative to other options, yet will likely hold up much better in the long term, and look a bit nicer. If you wish to reverse the mod at some point vinyl wrapping wouldn't be a bad idea - vinyl wrapped trim is known to stay looking good for years, though I still would personally prefer paint.
As always, Rochester has the best idea, get it professionally painted gloss black. I sanded mine on my own and slipped it to a friend while he was painting a black car at work at a dealership's body shop
I was thinking originally to keep the emblem chrome but I'm very happy I didn't.

This looks SHARP! I dig the gloss black w/gloss black emblem, very clean & classy, yet with an aggressive touch
