Just got my first G37S!!!

Hey guys!

My first post here but most certainly not my last!

Just got a CPO 2012 G37s with only 9600 miles on the odometer! I'm so fricken excited and LOVE the drive of this car.

Just picked it last Tuesday and the girl and I had to drive up to the Poconos to visit her family for Christmas, so still having the potenza tires on the G made us take her Passat up instead. So I'm sitting here with itchy feet to get home and lay some trails in the new G, lol.

I'm coming from a 2007 Saab 95 that I absolutely loved and really wore into (has 150k miles, got it with 40k) and I will sure miss the uniqueness of never seeing my car, lol.

Back to the G, i knew i wanted a rwd S model to get all the sport goodies but finding one anywhere near Baltimore was next to impossible. Im also a warranty junkie so finding a rwd S on cpo was the cream of the crop since i would most likely be buying the car from a distance quite far from home. This was the only rwd S within 300 miles of me with a cpo on the car where they didn't want to torch me for an extra $1000 for the cert.(since it was already on there).

I had seen the car listed 2 months ago at $26000, kept it on my bookmark list, and the third week of December they dropped the price to $23000. Took the drive to Richmond, va (about 3.5 hours from me) and was able to get them to eat all fees (excluding tax) for the $23000 (so car cost was $22400) or about $24300 all said and done (6% tax in MD). Not a deal of a lifetime but for a cpo 2012 with all the bells and whistles and ONLY 9,600 miles, I couldn't be happier!

Sorry for the book but I'm just so excited to join this community and can't wait to really drive this car!

My first question though: I would like to get a set of cheap rims and throw some snow tires on them for the winter months but with the big brakes, I'm not sure what will work won't clear them. Any advice at all in what rims will clear the brakes on the S sedan would be amazing! It's hard to find many posts on the sedan S and winter rims.

Cheers and thanks for having me!

P.S. sorry for the dealer photos, but I haven't even taken pics of the car yet lol.

AFAIK, there aren't any super cheap rims that will clear your front calipers, so my advice is to get some 18" Michelin x-ice snow tires for your duckfeet, and wait out the day when you might be getting a second set of summer wheels. In other words, turn your thinking around and look at your current wheels as your future winter rims.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that seems like a good idea as the duck feet aren't exactly my cup of tea for the look of the car.

Thanks man! We should for sure. With the Saab, we had a meetup up in PA that was always a blast. I'd be down for making somthing work come spring/summer!

I think it's a 7AT, don't recall blue slate being an available color for the 6mt.

I didn't know that. It certainly was available in 2009. I know because I almost bought one in PA.

Oh well... he's still welcome here.

Congrats on the purchase!

We are in the same boat for getting 18" rims with snows to clear the brakes.

I hope to have the snows before it snows.

Great intro!
Looks like you found a very nice G, and nice to have that warranty piece of mind.
Here's a great deal on some nice looking 18s that clear your BBK, If I was looking for winter shoes I'd jump on these~

Yeah it was offered pre 2010 and then not on the later years which is so weird. I do love my blue slate but somedays wish I had graphite shadow since it is easier to keep clean.

I sure did. Seem like a good bunch, at least on the sales side.

Thanks for the link, will for sure have to pm them. Would have to drive up to NYC but wouldn't be so bad, especially for the price.
