G37S Sedan Exhaust

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and have a 2011 G37S Sedan. I was wondering how I can get the exhaust note to sound more like the coupe. I was looking into a Tanabe axle back but have heard that it is not significantly louder than the stock exhaust. What are your experiences and opinions on that?

A CBE is a bit out of my price range so I am wondering what other options are out there. I do not want an obnoxiously loud exhaust, just as close to the coupe would be perfect. Also, I was told that a cheap alternative would be to just swap out the muffler with something like a Magnaflow but I can't find any clips or videos of this setup. Thanks for the help

Muffler delete would be the cheapest, and it sounds good as well.

Welcome. You can check out the 'Engine, Intake and Exhaust' section. All kinds of great info.

But in the mean time this should get you drooling:

HFC + OEM catback. Slightly louder, more grunt.

In big broad numbers: $400 to $700 for the cats (depending on brand and whether or not they're resonated), and $200 to $300 for the install.

let me elaborate...

muffler delete the cheapest and sounds good, tanabe bolt on mufflers looks flashy with polished mufflers/tips still fairly quiet, Invidia full cbe will fill some performance and still relatively quiet. If you want to keep it quiet stay away from ARK & the Stillen systems.

Muffler delete will be Louder than the coupe sport exhaust. But, still quieter than the ARK. If you reuse your oem tips, it shouldn't cost you more than 100 bucks. Keep your old mufflers.

I have a 2011 G37S Sedan automatic and deleted the rear mufflers simply by unbolting it.

I never put them back on because it sounds good and it's my weekend car and I don't mind driving around without exhaust tips lol.

A friend quoted me $80 to cut off the muffler and put a straight pipe in its place. He owns a muffler shop. I just never got around to it

Yea, that'd be great. I want the deep growl of the coupe without it being overly obnoxious. I was also thinking about getting some Magnaflow mufflers and doing a resonator delete

Thanks, I heard mixed reviews of the Tanabe axle backs. It's hard to judge from the sound clips but a lot of people say there is almost no difference when added to the sedan

Tanabe axle backs will be louder under throttle, but hardly noticeable at idle. I would go with the Tanabes.
