Noob Question: Did I put my engine cover back on right?

Hello, I just installed a grounding kit for my ride and man does it make a difference in shift response! Before in DS mode the shifts were rough and jerky with lag but now its much more responsive and smoother. Anyways, so I totally dont remember how the engine cover looked like before I took it off. When I put everything back on I noticed that oil cap seems to be sitting lower but I just wanted to double check if thats how its always been. I tried adjusting it a couple times but cant tell if I moved a wire in the way or something? I think its just me being ocd though lol.

I also have another question ive been meaning to ask for a while back when I put in the air intake. I wasnt sure if I was supposed to remove this piece or of its significance. What does it do and how do I take it out? Its on both sides of the car way down there.

Thanks!

That's one clean engine compartment. The cover only goes on one way

It could be some lower portion of it is resting on the wires which is why it's not seating all the way. I'd just make sure the wire insulation is not touching any engine component or anything that can get hot.

Haha thanks! Yeah I just wanted a confirmation for that's not how it normally sits. I guess I'll just play around with sitting the wires better.

Any idea what that piece is for in the second set of pictures?

Haven't a clue. Maybe something that attached to the old airbox?

That piece you were asking about is a resonator for the stock air box, each side has one, not needed but I would keep them in a box in case you want to go back to OEM later on.

Ahh that's what it looks like. I left it there originally cuz I didn't know if it served another purpose that's important. It looks like it's just a clip that holding it in place too so shouldn't be too bad to get rid of it!
Hehe modding is kinda fun, first car ever I've been working on. Never even done an oil change prior to these but it's only possible because of this wonderful community and the wealth of information available.

Thanks! I'll try to get work on these tomorrow and let you know if I run into any problems.

Make sure you put the overflow tube clamp back on.

What is that exactly? Is it disconnected currently or are you talking about when I remove the resonator to remember to?

OEM air intakes in most modern cars are designed with a Helmholtz Resonator in the mix, to smooth out the resonance effect of air flow into the valves. Removing this is part of the reason why aftermarket air intakes are so loud.

Just use your camera phone in the future, snap pics from different angles so you will have a reference point. I glad to hear of your experience with the grounding kit. I have mind in the garage, yet to be installed. Does anyone know if it will void our factory warrenty? Would like to hear from all. Good day bro.
