Questions for potential new owner

If there is a wiki or FAQ for these questions just let me know. This is my first post.

I'm looking to get rid of my '06 Audi A4. I bought it used in '08. It's been a decent car but I'm at 97k and the past couple of years have not been the most reliable (google cam follower failure for that car.)

There are many low mileage '12-'13 G37 sedans in my area. First... How reliable are these cars with higher miles? The reviews I've seen seem very positive but I'm looking for real world opinions. For you guys with high miles. How's it been? I'm the type of person who gets a car and keeps it for 7-9 years so I'm wondering how they hold up.

When looking for a car are there any specific problem areas to look for? Any "must have" options. A lot of the cars I've seen seem to be loaded up. Most likely get a x since I'm in New England. A MT would be nice but I doubt I'd find one and I have a modestly modified '97 Miata for Summer fun. Thanks.

The one useful piece of information I can offer is that when I chatted up an Infiniti service advisor about potential long-term problems he said that the front-end suspension components tend to go after 100k.

I bought my '11 at 25k and now it's just past 75k almost trouble-free miles. The only high-ticket issue was a problem with the Bose head unit (skipping CD player). It was replaced by Infiniti under warranty.

That's a new for me. I know people with g37 that are past 100k and they didn't have any problems with that.

Sounds promising. I can deal with something like that at 100k. My Audi has had lots of small and large engine issues. I just want to get rid of it. I've always liked the G37. I test drove a manual coupe when I was shopping for the Audi and it was awesome but more money then I was going to spend at the time. There are many nice cars around me with less than 10k for mid-20s so I think it's time to start test driving some.

I'm not sure if you have to worry about suspension at 100k. Like I said I don't know anyone who had problems with that. Maybe at that milage you can change front struts which shouldn't be more than $350 for everything.

thing to check when you buying g37 is ask them for newest update to transition. If it wasn't updated you can do it at any Infiniti or Nissan dealer for free since you will still have warranty.
However I've heard some dealers may do it for free in older Infinitis that aren't under warranty too. That update is very quick I think it takes around 30min.

I can't imagine the OE dampers NOT be toast at 100k plus. They're a wear and tear part.

I would expect dampers to need replacing at 100k. I don't consider that a reliability issue. That's normal maintenance. There is a gray certified '13 I found at a dealer. Looks good so I'll probably check it out tomorrow.

I think he meant transmission flash. This applies to models prior to mid 2012.

I mean transmission software update, sorry I wasn't clear about that..
I helps with finding right gear at the low speeds / downshifting.
This stuff has been discussed on this forum many times. The newest update makes a really difference.

Check this forum:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sedan/215807-g37-7speed-transmission-reprogram.html

If it wasn't already done, You can do this update at any Infiniti or Nissan for free. It's just something to think about.
Also it's adaptive transition so when you guy the car you can reset if so it will adopt to your striving style.
Some people buy used g37 with 7at and complain how bad transmission is shifting gear, it's doing so because it's set up for pervious owner driving style.

It applies to 2013 too. I read somewhere about guys having 2013 sedan and still had to do transmission update. It will shift like a dream after the update.
I don't think it applies to q40.
