Is an IS meaningfully smaller than a G?
It feels smaller, lighter, and more nimble in my opinion (stock for stock). I would say it's noticeable.

The IS is a nice looking car but having driven both the g feels much sportier and faster. Even after test driving the new 2015 F it still feels kinda old man like when driving it. Hard to explain till you actually drive it around.

It's a downgrade if you ask me. Not a huge one but a downgrade. The dealer is not stupid, he knows he's getting a great deal if he convinces you to trade 2011 for 2006 with less power less technology and less room.

I looked at the IS350 for my wife shortly after purchasing my G, I don't see the value in this trade for you, not for a car that is 5 years older. If it were closer to the same age then I could see it, but now how the trade stands now.

Just my $.02

Seems like maybe a fair trade, but not a smart trade. I too would be very tempted. Glacier frost mica is my favorite paint code, period. I couldn't find one in a 350 with nav and options while I was shopping. I might have ended up on the Lexus forums instead of here lol!

This is an Infiniti forum so you may get biased opinions, but I'd say it's not a good idea. Sure the IS looks great but you're giving up a faster, more powerful car for it. Maybe you should trade your G in for an S model which makes a world of a difference, and will feel a lot better than the IS. I've never driven the X models but the Sport ones drive very nicely.

He is not paying anything. He wants straight car to car trade.

Decided to keep my G..

I would trade for a V8 IS-F, but otherwise would pass.

I believe it was only the IS250's that had the carbon build up issue.

Has someone mentioned the notorious IS direct injection carbon buildup problem? Don't walk, run away from it!
