Thinking of buying a 2009 G37 Journey
Thinking of buying a 2009 G37 Journey
I was honestly kind of set on a Lexus IS (I had one for 13 years and put 170K miles on it with no problems) but I came across G37s, and the more I read about them, the more I wanted one.
I wanted to get something 3-6 years old in the $15K-$20K range, and I came across a couple of 2009 G37 Journeys with about 70K miles on them for about $17K.
I was kind of all set to go take one for a spin, and if I liked it, maybe pull the trigger, but then I keep coming across a two star reliability rating from JD Power and listed on US News Car reports.
Any feedback on this? Is this car not reliable? How many miles do people put on these? What are the major issues? Are repair costs excessive? I've read some people say repairs are costly but that doesn't make a ton of sense considering it's a Nissan car. I kind of want to steer clear of German vehicles to avoid that.
Any info especially on the 2009 Journey would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just something you've heard from others hear. Thanks.

For 09 g37, 17k seems kinda a lot for 70k miles. Around my area, I seen 2009 g37s In my area going for 15-16k with 50k miles on it. But it's all area dependent I guess.
Im not sure honestly how long it'll last since I just bought mine, but coming from a Honda, I enjoy driving a lot more. Except seeing my gas go down helka fast compared to my accord
I can tell I'd enjoy driving
I checked kbb to see if those prices were reasonable and they seemed like they were. I love that horsepower. I am used to getting around 17 a gallon and paying for premium so no big deal, but I am not used to having a lot of maintenance costs.
Thanks for the response.

Links don't work for me. But Lexus IS 350s are gonna be more expensive for sure. It's cause that a toyota compared to a Nissan. But I paid 19,800 for a 2011 g37s with 53k miles on it and warranty. So I mean idk but compared to other pricing and KBB, I seem to got a good deal
Maint will probably be close to Lexus. Maybe a fraction more or less. Insurance might also be raised as its labeled a sport sedan.
Keep your eyes open for an 09 with the Sport Package, it might be $1000 more give or take but includes a lot of good parts~bigger wheels/tires, big fixed calipers, shift paddles (for the AT), limited slip differential, thigh bolstered seats, sport steering & suspension, aluminum pedals, sport bumper, and a fancy red S on the tail.
Money well spent
