Question about start up (buying g37)
I know you can't sell well with the pictures , but is there anything noticeably wrong. So the last pic, the resovoir on the bottom was close tonempyy 1/8th full, idk about oil
It is exactly what it is, a struggling but successful start. 2nd time was getting better. Idk about 3rd and 4th. But do you think it's the battery? Is there a way I can check if it is on spot at the car lot without replacing it with a new battery? Thanks for the input and advice
Well if you go back to look at it again pull the air cleaners and check the oil, to get an idea of how this car was maintained. or just go find one at a dealer or carmax
Your from sac. What did you pay for yours. Any deals over that way? I'm looking at cars anywhere from San Francisco to Sac to Fresno, **** even LA. But itspriced hella high over here hah
Do you guys think I am jumping into buying a G to fast? Now, i'm seriously considering a 10' G37. I was going to borrow some money (I have $15,000) and buy one for $18,000-$19,000. But what I'm asking is this. Am I jumping the bullet to soon by going straight to a G37 when I can get a V36 G35 for 3-4,000 cheaper?
No one in my family has ever owned a G. I have 1 UNCLE who bought a 2011 G37 NEW and he only put 20,000 miles on it in 4 years because he gets 15 mpg (city driving plus I dont think he reset his MPG from when it came new). But what I'm saying is this. Should I Borrow the extra money to get a 37 or there isn't that much of a difference with the 2nd gen G35 besides the interior and fog lights (of course, more things but mostly interior / exterior). Reason why I want a G37 over the G35 is the interior seems more classy and professional compared to the old trims, better gas (i heard) with the 7AT, and of course the simple fact it is the newer version of the G35.
Please let me know. I don't want to regret this decision and make the wrong move by purchasing a G if it's not the best. I just assume their great cars cause these engines power a lot of everyday vehicles I see on the street, but idk.
And if the 10' 37 is still going to have the paper gasket oil pressure problem, that's another $1,000-$2,000 to replace it with a metal gasket. I like the G37 because it is luxurious (in my eyes, coming from an accord), fast when needed, and I heard its a great car besides a few problems, but that's with every car. And also how it competes with BMW and Audi but doesn't have the HUGE $$$$ price tag on parts / maint.
Thanks guys.

We had an 07 G35 and sold it to a friend, it has over 100k miles now and still drives very well. We now own an 09 G37, both of our Gs had the ATs too. Our 07 w/ the 5AT got a best of 27mpg and our 09 gets up to 29.5 (and my 09 has heavy 20" wheels/tires). So I'd say it gets at least 10% better hwy mileage. The 5AT is a very decisive transmission, the shifts are pretty quick and doesn't hunt much when downshifting/cruising. The 7AT is a bit more hesitant/indecisive at times but is very quick in the upshifts and does a nice job rev-matching w/ downshifting. It's the times when you're decelerating slowly or varying your speed around town where the 7AT tends to become a bit confused, it's something I've adapted to and it's not as big an issue as it was when we first got it.
All your choices will be without warranty unless you assume a G w/ a transferable elite warranty. The 09 Sport pkg has the nice big brakes, but the 2010+ has the refreshed grill/bumper.
If you can find a clean, lower mileage 07 through 09 they're still great cars, and if mpg is real important look for an 09, and if the newest front end really strikes a cord then the 2010+.
G/L and hope you find the perfect G for your budget/situation.

I bought my car from:
Carsmith Motors | Dealer | Fremont, California
Its in Fremont, Kevin (owner) was really friendly and not pushy to a sell at all. Came back multiple times and he knew what I wanted and grabbed the keys and let me out for my test drive no real questions asked. On my 4th trip I was sold. Came home that day with my 09 6mt OB G37S coupe w/ 24k miles for about 28k if i remember correctly (prices have now dropped).
bought her in 2011 CPO with 2 additional years of warrenty on top of the remaining factory warrenty. As it sits now its got about 61k miles and aside from some warrenty work i got done right when i got her (window seal cracked, illuminated kicker plate bubble) its been trouble free.
I think that's only something you can determine, but I can add a bit.

I have a question though. I'm lookong at a 2009 g37 sedan sport. But I thought (according to edmunds) that sport models only came in 6Mt. But then I also saw a lot of Gs have the sport "package". What's the difference ? Can an actual g37spprt (not package) be an automatic?
Cause I found 1 that has the S in the back (others don't but when you carfax, it says "G37/Base/Sport". But anyways ; this one that's a sport has the paddle shifters but is automatic. I'm confused on howcome some have paddles but others don't
So that helped me out a lot. Thanks. Haha now, I'm not too determined to get the 2010+ g37 and I'll live with the 09. I wanted be 10' cause of a few small reasons, like the leather padded cup holder, all blue dash instead of the Orange , etc.

They also come w/ bigger 18" wheels, shift paddles thigh bolstered seats, the red S on the trunk, limited slip differential, sport suspension, and different bumper (and probably a couple things I missed)
Hope that clears it up for you, and sounds like you may have found a good one
It does get confusing. ALL the 6MTs are Sports, the Automatics w/ the sport pkg are sold as "G37 journey w/ Sport pkg", this is still a good model to look for as it has the big Akebono front brakes, you'll know right away when you see these big calipers

If I have found a 2009 G37 Sedan EXCELLENT Condition Sport (with the red S and paddle shifters) with 59k miles, still has some warranty (since it still had some, the dealer thats selling it went to an INFINITI dealer and had eveyrthing checked up, etc) and it's looking pretty ****ing clean. Price is listed at $17,800 but I can probably get it lower of course as this isn't a lexus / toyota / ford dealership, but instead a little family owned one that has inventory. Is it worth it. I found another 1 with 60k miles, pretty much close to same coniditon except without the S (but when you carfax, it says G37 Journey / Base / Sport ?) idk But thats listed at $15,900. Idk which I wanna get. I might go with the S just because I was determined to get a 10' but if I'm getting a 09', why not get the shifters. Or is it not worth the extra $1,000-$2,000
The Sport pkg is worth paying more, the brakes alone are a $1500 setup.
Carfax often says "Sport" because it the G37 is generically a sport sedan even when it is not specifically a Sport model. Only way to really tell is look at the front bumper, seats, brakes, wheels. I only wanted a Sport not a regular G no matter the price. There is a huge difference in the way they drive. For peace of mind budget in a 2k difference to buy certified pre owned from an Infiniti dealer. Gets an extended warranty even better than the original warranty plus roadside assistance.
When I bought my 2010 it kind of had a slow startup and turns out the battery only lasted another 3 months before going kaput. With a new battery now it still seems to take a split second longer to startup than other cars I've had *shrug*

$17,800 that HAS the paddle shifters / I think upgraded breaks / the red S. It has 3 owners and labeled on car facts "2009 G37 Sedan Journey / Base / Sport":

Red S

You can see the paddle shifters

I think upgraded breaks

This one is at $15,800 with 60k miles and DOES NOT have the S / paddles but is still labeled on car facts "2009 G37 Sedan Journey / Base / Sport". Has 2 owners:

No paddle shifters from what I can see

No red S

But it is still labeled the Sports on carfax but Idk.
Thanks for the help. I just want to know which one is ACTUAL sport or if it is worth it to pay the $17000 for the S and breaks, etc, instead of the $15,800
